Hill added to NRCC's 'Young Guns'; focuses campaign online during COVID-19 crisis

McCarthy Adds David Hill To 2020 "Young Guns" Program

WASHINGTON (March 16th, 2020) — On Wednesday, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy added David Hill, candidate for Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District, to the National Republican Congressional Committee's (NRCC’s) Young Guns program. According to Leader McCarthy, “The program mentors and supports candidates... and works to provide them with the necessary tools to run successful, winning campaigns against their Democratic opponents.”

“I am excited about my campaign’s growing momentum," Hill said. "The National Republican Congressional Committee is a strong partner in our effort to unseat liberal Kendra Horn, and I’m honored to have been accepted into the NRCC’s Young Guns program. Oklahomans are desperate for new leaders, not the same political farm team that goes to Washington and serves special interests while building a career. I’m not going to Washington for a career, but to support President Trump’s agenda and represent all Oklahomans."

Recently, Roll Call listed Kendra Horn as the most vulnerable Democrat running for Congress in 2020, and the NRCC has made it known that their path to retaking the House runs through Oklahoma. Voters will decide on a Republican nominee to challenge Democrat Kendra Horn on June 30th.

Campaign Improves Communication in Wake of COVID-19

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 17th, 2020) — Today, the David Hill for Oklahoma congressional campaign announced that its campaign operations will focus on using technology to safely connect with voters across the 5th Congressional District. The campaign will postpone large events, and temporarily halt volunteer door-to-door canvassing. These voter contact experiences will be replaced by small group meetings, phone calls, text banking, and other technologies consistent with social distancing recommended by the federal, state, and local governments.

Hill’s campaign manager, Tyler Moore, stated, “It is important we show Oklahomans there’s an opportunity to send a true conservative businessman and political outsider to Washington, instead of the same politicians that work for themselves or special interests. At the same time, our campaign has an obligation to protect our volunteers, interns, and staff as well as the public, and will therefore heed the directives given by government leaders concerning COVID-19. While we are anxious to get back on the doorstep, we believe ramping up these approaches will still show voters David Hill is the right choice to fix congress.”

David Hill stated, “I am pleased our campaign is prepared to move forward with a new focus on delivering our message digitally while activating our growing volunteer network remotely. I urge Oklahomans to follow the instructions of our health and public safety authorities but remain steadfast and know that in time, we will return to our daily lives as normal."

David Hill is a Republican running for Congress in the 5th Congressional District. He is also the owner and CEO of MAR-K, the nation’s leading manufacturer of over 6,000 component parts for classic cars and trucks. Hill and his wife, Shannon, have been married for 26 years. They have three boys and three girls.
