Endorsement: Daniel Edmonds for Congress

As many Republicans are running for Congress this year in the 2nd Congressional District than have run in the past three election cycles combined. Six Republicans filed for this race, in addition to Democrat Congressman Dan Boren and his lone Democrat challenger, Jim Wilson.

The best Republican for this seat is Daniel Edmonds.

Daniel is a farmer/rancher by trade, and was nearing completion on his Doctorate in Soil Sciences at OSU when he decided to run for Congress. He is a solidly grounded conservative, with a good grasp on the Constitution.

I have observed this particular race very closely since the beginning of the campaign. This race has four good candidates, but only three have a shot at winning the primary, or making a runoff. When it comes to policy, there is little difference between the candidates, so the deciding factors are background and the candidate's appeal to conservative Democrats. I believe that Daniel is the most viable of the three when it comes to the general election.

I asked each of the candidates some tough questions about their background and past, and received good, thorough answers from each. Daniel is a Christian, and although no one is perfect, he has sought to live a life pleasing to God - as a result, Daniel has no baggage for any opponent to exploit. There are a few issues with the other candidates which for the most part are easily explained (and in some cases, once explained are no longer issues), but the Republican nominee will not be able to afford spending money to defend his past.

In addition, Daniel has avoided making gaffes on the campaign trail and taking ridiculous (and/or unconstitutional) positions. One candidate in particular lost his chance at my primary vote with statements he made on issues.

Daniel has been the most frugal campaigner. He has not been very successful on fundraising, but he has stretched his dollars farther than any of his opponents. Likewise, he has avoided the wasteful spending of some of his opponents. Also, when it comes to campaign strategy and work ethic, Daniel stands out among the Republican candidates as the best.

Make no mistake - the other candidates are good people, and would make good congressmen. However, I do not think they are the best choice in this particular race.

I am giving my endorsement and vote to Daniel Edmonds.

You can learn more about Daniel and his campaign by visiting his website at www.DanielEdmonds.org. He is also on Twitter (@DanielEEdmonds) and Facebook.

Daniel joins Tom Coburn, Dana Murphy, Owen Laughlin, John Wright, Gary Jones, Janet Barresi and John Doak as my endorsed candidates for the July 27th Republican primary. Stay tuned for more endorsements!

  1. Very easy to analyze why Mr. Edmonds has no "issues" as you mentioned. He is 26 yrs. old, not married,no children, lives at home, only seen & travels with his sisters as all extrol their high moral values they appear to think others do not have!!!! Daniel's obsession for judging others and talking behind their backs so often observed does not appear very "God like" when doing so. Could this be then an "issue?" Or, what is considered an "issue?" Apparent it is many others chose to not financially support Mr. Edmonds. Quite obvious he has ended up with an "indebtness of over $5,000...Check FEC Filings. How "Frugal" is this when a man has to fund his own campaign by ending up in debt? Quite obvious your "endorsement" could possibly stem from like-minded religious affiiation. After all kindred spirits do think alike and stick together. Try not to "scrub" this one very much by clever use of Semantics. Lots of "issues" here with your web site being one of them.

Doesn't it say somewhere,"Pride goeth before a fall?"

  2. Until now I was undecided between Daniel Edmonds and one other candidate. It was not Jamison's endorsement that swayed me, but the comments of the above poster.

Daniel Edmonds will have my vote next Tuesday.

  3. Wonderful, isn't it, the things one can say when one is not going to take credit for what is said!

Good work, Jamison! Great work, Daniel! Slugs on parade, Anonymous

  4. I think it's rather obvious that Anonymous-GT is upset that her son didn't get the endorsement from Jamison.

I appreciate the work you've done, Jamison, in researching the candidates and sharing your opinions on this race. I agree that Edmonds is the best choice in District 2.

  5. Terrance, DJ, thanks.

Bobbie, I'm glad that you were able to pick a candidate based on my blog. That is part of my intent - to publicize information about the candidates... and to allow people to make fools of themselves, thereby convincing others to vote for a different candidate.

Anonymous 1: I will respond to a few points of your comment.

How many 26 year old bachelors can say the same as Edmonds, when it comes to an unblemished record? I submit to you that in this age, few can. Also, you don't get on the verge of completing a PhD program by staying at home. Besides, don't you wish more siblings had as good a relationship as the Edmonds' do?

Quite obvious your "endorsement" could possibly stem from like-minded religious affiiation. After all kindred spirits do think alike and stick together.

Let me first say that my dad is a state representative, and his last opponent found out the hard way that attacking a candidate for his church affiliation (or what town he attends church in) does not a winning strategy make. Second, I have as much in common with Edmonds spiritually as I do with the other candidates (by the way, Edmonds is not of the same denomination as I, nor are the others), who all are self-professed believers in Christ. Can I help that I like other Christians?

I don't even know what you're trying to say there...

  7. All of these comments are very timely; very well spoken. Life experiences show us that we get NOWHERE fast by slamming others. Appreciate your comments Bobbie and Jamison.
