Endorsement: Jason Reese for Labor Commissioner

There are two Republicans running for Labor Commissioner this year. As with the Attorney General's race, this was a tough choice, as I think that both men would be good in this office.

My vote will be going to Jason Reese.

Jason is an attorney who specializes in labor and employment law. He has relevant experience for the job that will enable him to hit the ground running from day one. He has seen from a different perspective how illegal immigration effects Oklahoma businesses, and can be counted on to fight against it, while at the same time encouraging legal immigration.

He will push for much-needed worker's compensation reform, to merge agencies in the Labor Commission, and to eliminate discrimination against Reserve and National Guard members.

Jason knows how the laws currently work, from both a public and private perspective. He can be trusted as a reformer.

I'll be voting for Jason Reese.

You can learn more about Jason and his campaign by visiting his website at www.ReeseForLabor.com. He is also on Twitter (@ReeseForLabor) and Facebook.

Jason joins Tom Coburn, Dana Murphy, Owen Laughlin, John Wright, Gary Jones, Janet Barresi, John Doak, Daniel Edmonds, Robert Hubbard, Scott Pruitt and James Lankford as my endorsed candidates for the July 27th Republican primary.

  1. Again, you're all over the place.

Sorry, I'm voting for Costello... he knows how to create jobs, run a business and how to deal with the gov't bureaucracy that a business must deal with. He'll be a great Labor Commissioner who will bring common sense solutions to our Oklahoma businesses.

Vote for Mark Costello... he's the right fellow... Vote for Mark Costello... he's the right fellow!

  2. this was initially a diffiult race for me as well. But Costello's ridiculous statements regarding not fighting for the protection against discrimination for our men and women in uniform tipped the scale, and tipped it decidedly. Also his jingle makes me want to scratch my eye balls out. For Jason Reese!

  4. Anonymous,

Jamison never stated he was making his choices on who was more likely to win, but made his endorsements based on principle (after a very thorough examination of each campaign). Sure, after the primary results come in, we may have to vote for a candidate that doesn't meet all the qualities that we were looking for. Like holding our nose and voting for John McCain over Obama.
Plus, he has stated in several of his endorsements that both candidates would be good in the specific office, but sometimes tough choices have to be made. Although, I don't agree with all of his endorsements, I applaud Jamison for standing on principle!

    Keep up the good work!!

  5. I'm behind you on this one, Jamison! Reese is a great guy and I hope he wins the primary. He's the only candidate for this race that is excited about the job of Labor Commissioner and about explaining that job to others. His enthusiasm and his ideas put him ahead of his opponent by far.

  6. Jamison, I can't disagree with you more on this one! I've read what Mr. Reese wrote about HB 3119 in 2006, calling its supporters "nativists" and advocating for the legalization of the illegal immigrants here now. How can you trust him to enforse the laws of the state in this crucial jobs matter? I've heard both of the candidates speak, and the maturity of Mark Costello is obvious; Mr. Reese's is not. And how can a friend of the public employee labor union be a friend of the taxpayers of OK? Electing Mr. Reese would be a big mistake.

    Former neighbor of Mark Costello.

  8. John W. I use anonymous when I post because I am cyber challenged and cannot get a google account to work for me. I do sign my full name after the posts.

I am more comfortable voting for Costello to be Labor Commissioner.

Good to see you on the leflore county guardian, Jamison
