The 2026 GOP race for Governor continues to grow, this time with conservative former state senator Jake Merrick joining this race this week:
Yukon, OK (April 29th) — Jake Merrick, former Oklahoma State Senator, current host of The Jake Merrick Show on Freedom 96.9, local business owner, devoted husband, and father, is letting the state of Oklahoma know that he will officially be entering the race for Governor of Oklahoma in April of 2026. With unwavering resolve to chart a visionary new course and determination to run a race free from any appearance of corruption, Merrick has boldly chosen not to accept campaign donations at this time, and he will not be accepting funds from political action committees (PACs) or organizations at all. This decision reflects his dedication to maintaining his platform as a radio host while also ensuring his campaign remains free from special interest influence.
“This campaign will be of, by, and for the people of Oklahoma,” Merrick declared. “I answer only to the citizens of this great state, and I will carry no obligations except to serve you.”
With a deep commitment to serving the people of Oklahoma, Merrick is running a grassroots campaign rooted in conservative values, faith, and an unwavering dedication to the future of Oklahoma.
As a former State Senator representing Senate District 22, Merrick brought a principled, people-first approach to the Oklahoma Capitol, championing policies that promoted family values, individual freedom, and limited government. His experience as a legislator, combined with his entrepreneurial background, gives him unique insight into the challenges and opportunities facing Oklahomans.
Currently, as the host of The Jake Merrick Show, Merrick engages daily with citizens, community leaders, and legislators, discussing critical local and state issues with a focus on empowering communities and fostering dialogue.
A proud supporter of President Donald Trump and his America First policies, Merrick wants to capitalize on the opportunity Trump is handing back to the states to determine their own destiny. He is committed to advancing initiatives that prioritize Oklahoma’s sovereignty and constitutional liberties.
“President Trump’s leadership showed us what’s possible when we put the people first,” Merrick said.
“As governor, I will fight for policies that protect our God-given rights, strengthen our economy, and ensure Oklahoma remains a beacon of opportunity. I will work to reduce taxation, roll back regulation, and remove unwarranted surveillance. I want to see Oklahoma lead the nation in elite education. I want our children to be protected from evils like abortion, woke ideologies, and domestic violence. I want our property rights to be strengthened and our property taxes eliminated.”
Merrick, a Christ follower, emphasizes that his faith guides his values while also standing for the freedom of expression for all.
“As governor, I will serve all Oklahomans with integrity and respect,” Merrick stated. “My faith inspires me to value every man and woman because of their intrinsic value, ensuring every voice is heard and every community is valued.”
Merrick’s campaign will focus on grassroots engagement, relying heavily on the support of Oklahomans to spread his message. He invites communities across the state to reach out for speaking opportunities at local festivals, churches, civic groups, or other events where he can connect directly with voters.
