Erin Morrison launches campaign for Senate District 24

With incumbent senator Darrell Weaver running for Lieutenant Governor, the State Senate District 24 seat will be open in the 2026 election. So far, two Republicans have announced their intent to run for the seat: Chris Apel, and Erin Morrison. Below is a press release sent to me by Morrison:

Moore Board of Education President Brings Small Business Expertise and Conservative Values to State Senate Race

MOORE, OK (May 7th) — Today, I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the Oklahoma Senate in District 24. I’m running to bring commonsense, conservative leadership to the State Senate—leadership that values our families, our faith, and our future.

Raising my son Ty in Moore has shown me the power of community. I want to ensure every child in District 24 has access to a world class education and the opportunity to achieve their American Dream.

Having served on the Moore Board of Education since 2021, currently as President, I’ve been fighting for our schools to have the resources they need—because strong schools build strong communities. In the State Senate, I will continue that fight, defending local control and championing policies that empower parents and educators.

With a 25 year background in accounting and small business, I know how to balance budgets and cut waste. Taxpayers deserve transparency and accountability at every level of government.

I’ve seen firsthand how overreach and unfunded mandates burden our schools, families, and small businesses. I will stand against bureaucrats at our capitol who undermine local decisionmaking that leaves our districts struggling.

I believe that the gifts God has blessed me with are meant to serve others. In the Senate, I will be a steward of your trust, a champion for our children, and a voice for conservative values that keep Oklahoma strong.

I’m proud to stand with students, parents, smallbusiness owners, and working families. I’ll oppose overregulation, protect our Second Amendment rights, and champion prolife, profamily policies that reflect our conservative values.
