Current Corporation Commissioner and former State Senator Kim David is one of the 11 Republican candidates running for the 1st Congressional District. Her record on tax and fiscal policy is abysmal (bodes well for being in DC, right?).

There's one other thing to know about Kim David.

When push came to shove, when it actually mattered, when Oklahoma could have taken the lead in ending abortion in our state and protecting the preborn... instead, with an actual movie-villain smirk, Kim David KILLED the bill that would have abolished abortion in Oklahoma in 2020. 

Abolition Day rally set for Monday at Oklahoma State Capitol

 

On Monday, hundreds of Christians from across the state will gather at the Oklahoma State Capitol to call on the Legislature to finally abolish abortion in Oklahoma, stopping this wicked travesty in our state bringing an end to the unjust and evil slaughter of preborn Oklahomans that is still permitted by law.

Russell Hunter, State Senators Dusty Deevers and Warren Hamilton, and more. More speakers will be at the 6pm mini-conference held at Edmond's First Baptist Church.

The 2026 abolition bill, HB 3038, is authored by State Rep. Gabe Woolley and State Sen. Warren Hamilton, and has received a record number of coauthors so far (15 including the House and Senate author): Representatives David Hardin, Derrick Hildebrant, Jim Olsen, Tim Turner, Chris Sneed, and Justin Humphrey, and Senators Dusty Deevers, Avery Frix, Julie McIntosh, Tom Woods, Dana Prieto, Shane Jett, and Bryan Logan.

Deevers calls for interim study on self-managed abortion as death pill billboards pop up around state

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 24th) — On the anniversary of the Dobbs decision, Sen. Dusty Deevers, R-Elgin, responded to the presence of billboards advertising the abortion pill in Oklahoma. Deevers refuted the common misconception that abortion has been ended in the state and has proposed an interim study to investigate the prevalence of abortion pill sales and self-managed abortion.

“Abortion pill companies are taunting us,” Deevers said. “They know the pro-life laws we passed in recent years have a massive loophole and they are taking full advantage of it.”

One such billboard was spotted along Interstate 35 just South of Goldsby. The billboard depicts a woman’s hand holding abortion pills with the message: “Need to be un-pregnant?” Beneath the message is a link to the website where the death-inducing pills can be ordered.

Gov. Stitt opposes Abolition of Abortion Act; so what does "pro-life" even mean?

Pro-lifers like to say things like "Abortion is murder", "Life begins at conception", "We need to end abortion", and "Protect the unborn".

So why is it that a bill that matches that rhetoric and would actually abolish abortion - which continues in this state even after the overturning of Roe v. Wade through "self-managed" abortion pills - is a bridge too far for "pro-life" Governor Kevin Stitt?

Being "pro-life" is just about the cameras, awards, ratings, and elections. The actions of pro-life elected officials are not logically consistent with the rhetoric of the movement. What does "pro-life" even mean at that point?

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 21, 2023) - Attorney General Gentner Drummond issued a formal opinion today explaining that Oklahoma law does not allow pregnant women to be punished for seeking, performing or self-inducing an abortion to intentionally terminate their pregnancy. The opinion was requested by four state senators and two state representatives.

“Oklahoma law does not allow the punishment of pregnant women attempting an abortion,” the opinion states. “The Legislature has repeatedly made this clear and just last year, repealed the one law that would have expressly allowed such a prosecution.”

The opinion notes that while Oklahoma law does not allow for pregnant women to be prosecuted, abortion is legally prohibited throughout pregnancy except to save the life of the mother. The opinion notes that historically, in Oklahoma and nationwide, pregnant women have not been prosecuted for seeking, obtaining or inducing an abortion.

Before the reversal of Roe v Wade, virtually every Republican voted for some kind of abortion limitations, and the argument was "If it saves even one baby, it's worth it."  Now, among a few of the more liberal Republicans , the refrain has changed to "If we sacrifice a few, we can save many."

In Senate Bill 834, this session has seen a strong battle on whether we need to loosen up and compromise our abortion laws and allow the brutal murder of some portion of our babies.  Ostensibly, this would give us some protection against a state question that could legalize abortion on demand, wide open.  This line of thought advocates that if we allowed the slaughter of perhaps 200 babies per year, this would save the larger number that would be killed in wide open abortion on demand.  The extermination of the approximately 200 babies would have been allowed on the basis of the mother being a victim of rape or incest.

As we have argued in the past, these terrible crimes are not the fault of the baby.  The baby's essential humanity and right to life is not contingent upon the quality of her parents.  The baby is not guilty of any crime meriting the death penalty.

The baby has a right to life!

Elected officials blast Oklahoma Supreme Court for manufacturing limited 'right' to abortion out of thin air

I've been busy with work and other responsibilities, and missed posting about the Oklahoma Supreme Court decision the other day that manufactured a 'limited' "right" to abortion in the Oklahoma Constitution.

The majority opinion was joined by justices Douglas Combs, James Edmondson, Noma Gurich, Yvonne Kauger, and James Winchester. Of these five, Winchester is the lone justice appointed by a Republican governor, but I've warned about him previously and told people to vote to not retain him as a justice. Dissenting were Chief Justice John Kane IV, Vice Chief Justice Dustin Rowe, and justices Richard Darby and Dana Kuehn.

Senate Bill 834 is the pro-abortion bill that Oklahomans For Life Chairman Tony Lauinger is pushing hard for, but is probably dead for this session.  There are numerous fallacies associated with this bill.  Here are just a few.

Something unprecedented is happening in the Pro-Life movement.

What do I mean?  Am I speaking of the overturning of Roe v. Wade last summer?  That was wonderful news, but no, that's not what I am referring to.

I am actually speaking about some very bad news.

First, let me give the background here.  Last year, the Oklahoma Legislature passed two outstanding bills to protect innocent, unborn life.  HB 4327 addressed civil law.  It was much like the Texas law on abortion that allowed civil lawsuits.  Our law was even better, because it went all the way back to conception, the beginning of life.

The other bill we passed addressed criminal law.  SB 612 made abortion a felony, with punishments up to 10 years in prison, and a fine up to $100,000.

These two bills combined make us the strongest state in the union to defend innocent, unborn life.  This is where we always wanted to be.  It is a dream come true!

So, what is the bad news then?  The bad news is that there is an organization that wants to weaken, water down, and partially dismantle our strongly pro-life laws.  Senate Bill 834 is a pro-choice bill that would add several exceptions to our laws against abortion, repeal our law against self-induced abortion, and protect contraceptives that act as abortifacients.  This is a significant loosening of our current law.

Will the Oklahoma State Senate re-legalize abortion in an effort to appease the Left?

Last week, Republicans on the Oklahoma Senate Health and Human Services Committee passed a measure that would re-legalize and expand abortion in limited (for now) circumstances, in addition to allow for "the use, prescription, administration, procuring, or selling of any type of contraception [if] administered before the time when a pregnancy could be determined through conventional medical testing." This presumably would allow the permanent reintroduction of abortion-inducing early pregnancy drugs like RU-486/Mifepristone.

This measure (SB 834), bizarrely promoted by Tony Lauinger of Oklahomans for Life, is an effort to counteract perceived future attempts by pro-abortion forces to get a state question on the ballot by initiative petition. The thought process seems to be, "Let's put some exceptions back into law so we don't appear to be too radical on banning abortion."

OK Senate Republicans vote to re-legalize and expand abortion in "limited" (for now) circumstances

Told you this would happen.

This morning, Senate Republicans on the Health & Human Services Committee voted for three measures related to the topic of abortion, one of which re-legalizes and expands abortion in "limited" (for now) circumstances.

This comes less than 24 hours after the pro-life Rose Day at the State Capitol, and 48 hours after abortion abolitionists visited legislators. 

Political chameleons. Shameful.
