ICYMI: Who is the real Gentner Drummond?

As the 2026 gubernatorial campaign heats up, I thought I would bring back an old post with some background on current Attorney General Gentner Drummond, one of the leading candidates for governor (probably in the front of the pack due to name recognition and his campaign's deep pockets).

Who is the real Gentner Drummond? Fellow 2026 gubernatorial candidate Charles McCall has been pointing out Drummond's past record, such as contributions to the state legislator who is now the Oklahoma Democratic Party's new state chair

You may be startled to discover Drummond's past proclivity in donating to Democratic candidates, including Democrats who ran against U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine, and don't forget that infamous $1,000 donation to Joe Biden in 2020 in his name that he claims was from his wife during a marital spat.

I just rediscovered this, but in the height of irony, in his first [failed] campaign for AG in 2018, Drummond accused Mike Hunter of supporting Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi (a group Hunter worked for had donated to the aforementioned Democrats, but not Hunter himself). Egg on face, much?

I originally published the following on May 27th, 2022, during the last race for Attorney General between Drummond and then-incumbent John O'Connor (an interim placeholder):

OKLAHOMA CITY (November 15, 2024) - Today, Governor Kevin Stitt announced Oklahoma Commissioner of Public Safety Tim Tipton will lead the charge to expel those serving time in Oklahoma correctional facilities who are in the country illegally.

Cong. Hern: The Important Issue That No One’s Talking About

The Important Issue That No One’s Talking About
By: U.S. Rep. Kevin Hern

Most Americans have not heard a single word about the most important thing happening in Washington, DC, this year.

While many are familiar with President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), few know that some of the most important tax cuts in that bill are set to expire at the end of 2025. Some of the provisions have already expired.

This means that whoever wins this election - both in Congress and in the White House - will control what happens to the tax code next. That sentence should both scare and motivate you.

Small: No, you’re not blind

No, you’re not blind
by Jonathan Small

A tactic increasingly used by the political left is to emphatically claim people can’t trust their senses or common sense.

In short, the message has been, “Who are you going to trust? Us, or your lying eyes?”

We’ve seen this tactic used locally in Oklahoma, in national politics, and even on the world stage.

Brecheen demands answers from Army after training calls pro-life Americans terrorists

Congressman Brecheen, Colleagues Demand Answers from U.S. Secretary of the Army After Training Depicts Pro-Life Americans as Terrorists

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Josh Brecheen signed a letter led by Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) and Congressman Richard Hudson (R-NC) to U.S. Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth demanding answers after reports surfaced that anti-terrorism training conducted at Ft. Liberty, North Carolina depicted pro-Life Americans as terrorists.

Specifically, the slides (see here) identify National Right to Life, Operation Rescue, and anyone who opposes the Supreme Court’s rightfully overturned decision in Roe v. Wade as members of terrorist groups.

Brecheen: Biden's budget shows how radical and far-left he's drifted

Congressman Josh Brecheen On Biden’s Budget: “This Is How Radical And Far-Left Biden’s Ideology Has Drifted”

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Josh Brecheen highlighted the insanity of President Biden’s proposed budget during a House Budget Committee hearing with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Shalanda Young.

“A decade ago, former President Bill Clinton stated that he raised the corporate tax rate to reduce the deficit. Today, President Biden wants to increase taxes by $5 trillion, but use it for more government spending and not deficit reduction. This is how radical and far-Left Biden’s ideology has drifted, beyond even Clinton’s ideology,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen.

Election Results Maps: Trump mega-sweep, Biden loses one county

The presidential primary was on Tuesday, so it's time to update my long-running Election Results Maps series. Today, we look at how well - or how poorly - the presumptive major party nominees performed.

First up, the Democratic primary:

As you can see, President Joe Biden cruised to 72.98% statewide, a lead of 45.96% over all challengers combined. However, he failed to carry all 77 counties, losing one (Cimarron) to Congressman Dean Phillips.

Biden clung to single-digit leads in three other counties - Coal (33.33%, a 2.2% lead over Phillips), Roger Mills (37.5%, a 1.4% lead over Phillips), and Washita (35.92%, a 4.9% lead over Phillips). He was held under 50% in 11 counties, and an even 50% in one more.

He did perform better than President Barack Obama did in his second-term primary; Obama received 57.1%, while losing 14 counties. On the other hand, President Trump set a record for incumbent presidents by scoring 92.6% in 2020 (including unanimous votes in 13.7% of all precints).

Speaking of Trump...

Former President Donald Trump, unsurprisingly, swept all 77 counties by commanding margins, with 81.83% statewide (a lead of 63.66% over all challengers combined). His worst showing was in Oklahoma County, where he led Nikki Haley by a 72.23% to 24.92% vote (a 47.3% lead for The Donald). He topped 90% in 23 counties, including two where he led by 90% (Coal with a 90.4% lead, and Choctaw with a 90.3% lead -- with 94.84% and 94.55% of the vote, respectively).

Granted, he's something of a semi-incumbent, at least within his own party, but I would surmise this to be the largest and most dominant primary performance by an individual who is not currently sitting in the White House.

Brecheen files bill to combat proposed Biden energy regulation that would harm ceiling fan manufacturers

Congressman Josh Brecheen Introduces Small Business Ceiling Fan Manufacturer Protection Act

Washington, D.C. (Dec. 14th) – Congressman Josh Brecheen introduced the Small Business Ceiling Fan Manufacturer Protection Act, which would combat a damaging proposed rule from the Department of Energy (DOE) that could place certain ceiling fan manufacturers out of business.

“Biden’s Department of Energy should be focused on ensuring American energy independence, instead of pursuing a radical, green agenda that will crush small businesses,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen. “This bill is needed to ensure that DoE cannot act any further on this proposed rule.”

Breitbart’s Bradley Jaye wrote an exclusive report on the bill, which you can read here.

Background:

On June 22, 2023 the Department of Energy announced a proposed rule that would amend energy conservation standards for ceiling fans.

Specifically, this proposed rule would decrease the maximum energy consumption permissible for large diameter and belt-driven ceiling fans, thus raising costs by as much as $4.8 million on small businesses. This increase in costs will inevitably be passed on to American families.

It would require ceiling fan manufacturers to completely redesign their products to remain in compliance with this regulation. DOE predicts that for some small businesses, compliance with this rule would cost more than its yearly revenues.

Congressman Brecheen votes against "compromise" status-quo NDAA

Congressman Josh Brecheen Votes Against So-Called “Compromise” NDAA

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Brecheen voted against the so-called “compromise” National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which maintains taxpayer funded abortion travel, taxpayer funded transgender surgeries, and radical climate alarmism, which contributes to the current military recruitment crisis. It also continues the unconstitutional FISA 702 program, which has led to the warrantless surveillance of Americans, and even includes $600 million for Ukraine.

Cong. Brecheen files 'Stop Climate Hysteria in Diplomacy Act'

Congressman Josh Brecheen Introduces Stop Climate Hysteria in Diplomacy Act

Washington, D.C. (Nov. 8th) – Congressman Josh Brecheen introduced the Stop Climate Hysteria in Diplomacy Act, which would ensure President Biden’s Executive Order 14027, which created the Climate Change Support Office at the State Department, would have no force or effect.

“President Biden has used the excuse that climate change is an existential threat to create additional bureaucracy inside the State Department. The Climate Change Support Office is nothing more than a pet project for John Kerry to integrate climate change into all aspects of American foreign policy decisions. With this bill, Congress can eliminate a useless office and prevent the United States from prioritizing radical climate policy over our national security,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen.

Breitbart’s Sean Moran wrote an exclusive report on the bill, which you can read here.

Original co-sponsors include: Representatives Glenn Grothman (R-WI) and Eric Burlison (R-MO).

Sen. Lankford condemns Biden Admin for funding abortions for minors at the border

Lankford Condemns Biden Admin for Funding Abortions for Minors at the Border

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (Nov. 3rd) — Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Steve Daines (R-MT) led their Republican colleagues in submitting a comment letter to the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) condemning the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s (ORR) proposed “Unaccompanied Children Program Foundational Rule,” which blatantly violates prohibitions on the use of taxpayer funds to facilitate abortions on unaccompanied minors at the border.

“Instead of adhering to the law, responding to Congressional inquiry, heeding Congress’ warning, and treating unaccompanied minors with the dignity and respect they deserve as young mothers, HHS ORR has decided to codify these flagrant violations of the Hyde Amendment through the proposed rule,” the Senators wrote.

Lankford Calls on Biden Admin to Reverse “Don’t Say Dad” Rule

WASHINGTON, DC – Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and their colleagues sent a letter to address the US Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) recently proposed rule that would eliminate “gender-specific” words like “paternity,” “mother,” and “father” from federal regulations guiding the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) program. The letter urges President Joe Biden to rescind this “Don’t Say Dad” rule and to stop attempting to erase biological sex from federal law.

Small: Great opportunity for tax cuts

Great opportunity for tax cuts
By Jonathan Small

For both moral and fiscal reasons, the time is right to cut Oklahoma’s personal income tax.

The moral case is easy to make. Due to rampant inflation during the Biden presidency, families have steadily lost ground. Tax cuts will allow Oklahoma families to keep more of their earnings and help fill the hole.

Lankford demands Biden Admin investigate Chinese Communist Party influence in K-12 schools

Communist China has always tried to play the long game, putting a lot of resources into infiltrating Western governments, corporations, society, and culture. One way in which they've attempted to do this is by funding initiatives in all levels of education (K-12 and college). Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) is joining a number of colleagues in calling for the Biden administration to investigate the millions of dollars spent by the Chinese Communist Party in American classrooms.

Lankford: State Dep't has unprecedented 3-million passport backlog (3x more than during pandemic)

Keep Calm and Wait for Your Passport
By US Senator James Lankford (R-OK)

If you’re thinking of traveling in the next few months, don’t book your flight until you have your passport in your hands. To give you perspective, if you apply today for a passport, you probably won’t have it in hand until Thanksgiving, even if you pay the extra fee to “expedite” it. I think the State Department needs to get a better definition of “expedite.”

Just a few years ago, getting a passport routinely took four to six weeks. Now, passport processing takes anywhere from 12 to 18 weeks or longer—another example of this Administration’s inability to fulfill basic government services like permits, tax decisions, or a multitude of other issues.

Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, passport applications reached a 1.6 million backlog. I found out at the end of May 2020 that not a single passport had been processed since March 19, 2020, despite continuing to collect fees. I immediately sent a letter to then-Secretary of State Pompeo to find out what was going on and address it. Secretary Pompeo immediately made passport services “mission critical,” the backlog started to get caught up, and things went mostly back to normal.

But when the Biden Administration took over in 2021, processing times started to fall behind again and now have exceeded pandemic levels. Why?

State Department staff haven’t been operating at 100 percent capacity, and passport offices never fully reopened to the public after the pandemic. The office now has an unprecedented 3 million passport backlog—three times the worst backlog during the pandemic.

My office has received almost five-times the average number of requests for help this year. Oklahomans are frustrated that they face canceled vacations they saved for years to take, honeymoons they planned, business trips, or mission trips all because the State Department cannot do its job. They’ve created a mess.

I introduced my Passport Act, which addresses the root cause of the process breakdown, provides straightforward solutions to fix it, and prevents it from reaching historic levels again.

My bill will improve transparency and customer service by requiring the State Department to provide detailed status updates for passport applicants and add a customer service chat feature connecting applicants with the National Passport Information Center. These days, you can track a package delivery online from almost any provider—but the State Department is lagging behind.

I worked with Senator Ricketts from Nebraska to have my bill included in the State Department reauthorization bill. Then, we worked to get it included in the annual defense bill moving through Congress right now.

I will see this through to get a solution to prevent this fiasco from happening again. Enjoy your vacation trip overseas; just get your passport before you book your flight.
