Lankford Condemns Biden Admin for Funding Abortions for Minors at the Border

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (Nov. 3rd) — Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Steve Daines (R-MT) led their Republican colleagues in submitting a comment letter to the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) condemning the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s (ORR) proposed “Unaccompanied Children Program Foundational Rule,” which blatantly violates prohibitions on the use of taxpayer funds to facilitate abortions on unaccompanied minors at the border.

“Instead of adhering to the law, responding to Congressional inquiry, heeding Congress’ warning, and treating unaccompanied minors with the dignity and respect they deserve as young mothers, HHS ORR has decided to codify these flagrant violations of the Hyde Amendment through the proposed rule,” the Senators wrote.

Small: state sovereignty, government accountability, warrant protection

State sovereignty, government accountability, warrant protection
By Jonathan Small

A state’s citizens have the right to self-government. They also have the right to hold government officials accountable.

Most Oklahomans support both concepts. But they are under attack via a proposed federal regulation related to declaring a “public health emergency.”

Fortunately, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond is pushing back.

Lankford slams HHS leaked memo seeking to strip Americans’ religious, conscience protections

Lankford Exposes HHS Leaked Memo Seeking to Strip Americans’ Religious, Conscience Protections

WASHINGTON, DC- Senator James Lankford (R-OK) issued a statement after a leaked memo from the Department of Health and Human Services seeks to repeal certain protections for religious freedoms and directly calls out Members who have been outspoken of HHS’ mishandling of conscience and religious freedom protections.

The leaked memo from HHS states, “Groups who share the prior Administration’s broad view of the application of RFRA or who will interpret this action as an indication that the Department is abdicating its responsibility for compliance with RFRA will likely issue strong negative reactions. This includes members of Congress who have been outspoken about OCR’s conscience and religious freedom activities and who have repeatedly asked questions about changes to OCR’s organizational structure and legal authority.”

Lankford responded, “The memo is correct, I am an outspoken advocate for religious liberty, and I have a very ‘negative reaction’ to this Administration ignoring the First Amendment and failing to protect Americans of conscience. Americans do not support President Biden and his team’s absolute lawlessness when it comes to upholding Americans’ Constitutional rights—including our right to freely live our faith. The HHS memo leaked today is the second leaked document out of this administration in a week, which contradicts public statements from now two Cabinet secretaries, and illustrates the absolute disregard this Administration has for the American people. We, as Americans, do not discriminate against people of faith. This move by Secretary Becerra shows he will not keep the commitment to protect religious freedom for every American that he made during his confirmation hearing.

“This action from HHS means that the Office for Civil Rights will no longer uphold the civil rights of religious Americans. HHS clearly intends to go back to the days of light to no enforcement of the law that protect the rights of people of any faith.”

HHS Brings Free ‘Surge’ COVID-19 Testing to Oklahoma

HHS Brings Free ‘Surge’ COVID-19 Testing to Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 24, 2020) – The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) announced today the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) – in a public-private partnership with eTrueNorth and state and local officials – will bring free COVID-19 testing to Oklahoma between Nov. 28 and Dec. 19.

Surge testing efforts will temporarily increase federal support in communities experiencing a major uptick in cases and hospitalizations.

“We want to thank HHS for its continued support in protecting the health and safety of all Oklahomans,” Oklahoma Health Commissioner Lance Frye, M.D. said. “Across the country, we are experiencing aggressive, rapid, and expanding community spread of COVID-19, including here in Oklahoma. We must do everything we can to flatten the curve, to sustain the health system for both COVID and non-COVID emergencies. Focused testing is key to interrupting the current surge, including the identification of asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic individuals. In addition to getting tested, we strongly urge Oklahomans to wear a mask at all times in public, increase physical distancing through significant reduction in capacity in public and private indoor spaces, wash your hands frequently, and get a flu shot.”

Testing at the surge locations is free to the public and available to individuals age 5 and older. Individuals under 18 years old must have a parent or legal guardian present to consent to testing.

Testing locations are drive-thru and by appointment only. Pre-register at www.DoINeedaCOVID19test.com. On-site registration will also be accommodated. An identification card is not required to get tested.

Surge testing sites use the nasal self-swab testing methodology. Test results will be received via email notification within 3-5 days.

The following is a schedule for surge testing locations:

Lucas applauds Trump for expanding access to telehealth

Trump Administration Further Expands Telehealth, Focuses on Rural Areas

Cheyenne, OK – Earlier this month, President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order (the Order) further expanding access to telehealth services during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in rural communities. Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement today applauding the Trump Administration’s actions and committing to continue to work to further expand access to health care in Oklahoma’s rural communities:

“Earlier this month, President Trump took an important step to ensure those living in rural communities across Oklahoma have better, more reliable access to medical care. When Americans were asked to stay in their homes, the responsibilities and need for care prompted quick changes for both the well-being of patients and health care providers. Thanks to telehealth, Americans are receiving better access to the doctors of their choice all while avoiding unnecessary exposure to coronavirus,” said Congressman Lucas.

HHS Awards $2.5 Million to Health Centers in 3rd Congressional District Responding to COVID-19

HHS Awards $2.5 Million to Health Centers in Third District Responding to COVID-19

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), awarded more than $2.5 million to four health centers located in Oklahoma’s Third Congressional District in response to the COVID-19 pandemic:

“Our health centers are the backbone of our rural communities. Often on the frontlines of caring for the sick and protecting the health and well-being of our neighbors, Oklahoma’s community health centers are now playing a critical role by delivering essential services, serving as community testing and screening sites, and alleviating the burden currently felt at emergency rooms and hospitals,” said Congressman Lucas.

“I thank the Trump Administration and Secretary Alex Azar for acting swiftly to help our community health centers secure the resources needed to keep Oklahomans safe from the coronavirus. As we continue to practice social distancing, playing our own part in protecting the health of our communities, I will continue to fight for the resources needed in order to support our health care workers and their patients.”

Background:

Community health centers receiving funding in Oklahoma’s Third Congressional District include:
  • Fairfax Medical Facilities, Fairfax- $646,445
  • Great Salt Plains Health Center, Inc., Cherokee- $728,165
  • Panhandle Counseling and Health Center, Inc., Guymon- $568,550
  • Shortgrass Community Health Center Inc., Hollis- $587,345

Funding provided to the community health centers was appropriated by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump on March 27th, the CARES Act included $1.32 billion in supplemental funding to America’s community health centers to support health centers’ ability to detect, prevent, diagnose, and treat COVID-19.

Obama's Appointees and Tax Problems

For some reason, President Obama's appointees seem to have one common streak among them: tax problems.

Timothy Geithner, Treasury Secretary: $34,000 of late income taxes.
Nancy Killefer, Chief Performance Officer: Tax lien for non-payment of unemployment compensation taxes.
Tom Daschle: Health and Human Services Secretary: $145,000 of late income taxes.

As a result, both Killefer and Daschle have now withdrawn.

The question of the hour is, can President Obama appoint someone who has no tax problems?
