FBC Edmond hosting Abolition Now Conference, Wednesday through Saturday

EDMOND'S FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH HOSTS ABOLITION CONFERENCE, FEB. 5-8
(from the Baptist Messenger by FBC Edmond Pastor Blake Gideon)

First Baptist Church of Edmond is hosting the 2022 Abolition Now Conference, Feb. 5-8. This four-day conference combines teaching, training and application.

Abolition is a grassroots movement among churches to abolish abortion in Oklahoma. The tenets of abolition are built upon the following five principles. First, abolition is biblical. Rather than leaving the Bible out of engagements, abolitionists ground God’s Word as the foundation for everything that they do. The concept of abolitionism (the removal of evils) is derived from the Word of God. It follows from the call to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8).

Second, abolition is providential. Abolitionists rely on the providence of God, a not pragmatism in their efforts to abolish abortion. Abolitionists trust in the ordained means and methods God has given in His Word.

Third, abolition is Gospel-centered. Abolitionists recognize that the chief weapon they possess in the fight against abortion is the Good News of Jesus Christ. Abortion is sin, and the only answer for sin is repentance and a saving faith in the finished work of Christ. The Gospel alone brings redemption from destruction; it is the wellspring of love, hope and joy, and the answer to abortion. The Gospel truly and permanently mobilizes human action, motivates moral behavior and mandates consistent, compassionate justice.

Baptist pastors release film on how Pro-Life movement is keeping abortion legal in OK

A Storm Comes Rolling Down the Plain: The Movement to Abolish Abortion Without Compromise in Oklahoma

Powerful New Documentary Reveals How the Pro-Life Movement Keeps Abortion Legal in Oklahoma

Oklahoma City, OK -- A Storm Comes Rolling Down the Plain tells the providential story of the church rising to bring the gospel into conflict with the horrors of abortion in Oklahoma. It presents the church of King Jesus as she proclaims the gospel as the ultimate antidote to modern day child sacrifice.

In contrast, it shows how the super-majority of Republican pro-life politicians have fought to kill bills that would abolish abortion immediately, without exception or compromise.  The storm in Oklahoma is building as the Church repents and rises up to work to end what the pro-life movement has only sought to regulate for the last 48 years.

40 pastors and religious leaders endorse David Hill for Congress

40 Faith Leaders Announce Support for David Hill

OKLAHOMA CITY — A growing list of faith leaders announced their support for conservative Republican David Hill in his race for Congress. Already numbering 40, these faith leaders span the entire district.

"We are excited to have a candidate of the quality of David Hill in the race," stated Paul Abner, an Oklahoma minister for 40 years, who helped organize the group. "Far too often the faith community is either ignored or taken for granted in politics. David Hill has taken the time to visit with us and knows how important faith issues like the right-to-life and religious liberty are to those he intends to represent," Abner continued.

"David Hill has a deep understanding of the importance of both faith and the faith community," stated Dr. Ted Kersh, one of the pastors on the list. "David’s personal faith and the value he places upon issues important to us is evident from the first moment you visit with him," Kersh continued.

Steve Green, President of Hobby Lobby and Board Chairman for Museum of the Bible is among those listed. Green also serves as a co-chair for the Hill campaign.

Edmond First Baptist Pastor: give SB13 a fair hearing

Pastor Blake Gideon of Edmond First Baptist Church released a public statement yesterday, calling on the Oklahoma Legislature to give a hearing to "all bills with the intent of ending abortion", including Senate Bill 13, the Abolition of Abortion in Oklahoma Act.

A month ago today, Pastor Gideon delivered a strong message on the sanctity of human life, including this statement: "I'm tired of incrementalism... I'm tired of kicking the ball down the field... it's time that we end the game! It's the fourth quarter, ten seconds left on the clock, we're in the redzone, we're down by one, it's time to punch the ball the ball across the goal line and end abortion in the state of Oklahoma!"

Gideon is the President of the Oklahoma Baptists (formerly called the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma), but is speaking personally and in his role as EFBC Pastor. A BGCO statement would be from Executive Director Dr. Hance Dilbeck.
