Then there were 10: Guy Barker joins GOP field in 2nd Congressional District

Guy Barker, Secretary-Treasurer of the Quapaw Nation, announced yesterday that he is launching a campaign for the U.S. Congress in District 2. Barker becomes the 10th publicly announced Republican candidate to join the race since incumbent Congressman Markwayne Mullin launched his campaign for U.S. Senate, opening the seat up for the first time since 2012.

The news was first broken by KOSU:

Barker says he will use his real-world experience to address the nation’s most pressing issues, which he identifies as inflation, rising energy prices and border security.

"Far too often, Americans are saddled with ineffective leaders that merely talk about our Nation’s issues but lack determination and experience to get the job done," said Barker. "I am running for Congress to do the work and get results for Oklahoma families."

He joins State Sen. Marty Quinn, State Rep. Dustin Roberts, former State Rep. and current OKGOP chairman John Bennett, State Rep. Avery Frix and Police Chief Johnny Teehee and pharmacist Chris Schiller (all three from Muskogee), and military vets Erick Wyatt and Clint Johnson, and activist Rhonda Hopkins.
