Andy Simmons introduces Sheriff candidacy to Muskogee County Republicans

Andy Simmons, one of three Republican candidates for Muskogee County Sheriff, sent the following introduction of his candidacy to Republican voters via email. The other Republican candidates are Michael Mahan and Jeff Smith. The winner of the GOP primary will face Democrat former sheriff Charles Pearson in the November general election.

Hello Muskogee County,

My name is Andy Simmons and I am one of your Republican candidates running for Muskogee County Sheriff 2020. Our Primary election will be June 30th and I wanted to take a brief moment of your time to introduce myself to you. I grew up in Muskogee. After high school I joined the United States Navy as a Submariner and then continued my passion for service by joining the Muskogee Police Department. The past 24 years I have specialized in narcotics enforcement, violent crimes, special operations, and served as a K9 handler. I have worked as an undercover officer in five counties with multiple state and federal agencies. I'm passionate about using available resources and my many years of networking to improve the safety of Muskogee County by reducing crime, drug abuse, and theft. I strongly support our 2nd amendment, our Veterans and the Constitution.

Passion for service runs deep in my family. I am a third generation military veteran and second generation law enforcement officer. My daughter Skylar, is working towards a career in healthcare and my son Blake, is pursuing a future in public service, recently serving as a Senate Page in Washington D.C during the Impeachment trials. Also, my partner in everything I do, Andria, dedicates her time to healthcare education and as a youth athletics coach and mentor for teenage girls. Myself and my family are grateful for our community and want to see it thrive. I would appreciate your support and your vote on June 30th.
