NRA endorses Stitt, Lankford for re-election

The NRA has endorsed both Governor Kevin Stitt and U.S. Senator James Lankford for reelection, according to the following press releases issued in the last twenty-four hours:

NRA-PVF Endorses Gov. Kevin Stitt in Oklahoma Primary

Fairfax, Va. (May 3rd) - The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) proudly announces its endorsement of Kevin Stitt for governor in the 2022 Oklahoma Republican Primary.

"Gov. Stitt has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to protecting and preserving the Second Amendment rights of every Oklahoma gun owner," said Jason Ouimet, chairman, NRA-PVF. "That commitment was on full display when Gov. Stitt signed constitutional carry legislation in 2019 — eliminating the requirement that law-abiding citizens seek additional permission to exercise their fundamental right of self-defense.”

An NRA-backed bill, constitutional carry fully recognized the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners to carry a firearm for self-defense without a permit from the state. With his signature, Oklahoma became the 16th state to sanction constitutional carry. In April of 2022, Georgia became the 25th state to pass similar legislation.

Gov. Stitt has earned an "A+" rating for the 2022 primary election. This rating is NRA’s highest grade and reserved for elected officials who vigorously promote and defend the Second Amendment.

“The NRA is proud to endorse Gov. Kevin Stitt and commends his longstanding support of the Second Amendment. We encourage all NRA members, gun owners, hunters and sportsmen to vote Kevin Stitt in the upcoming Republican Primary election,” Ouimet concluded.

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.

Lankford Receives Major Endorsement from NRA

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Families for James Lankford announced the campaign was endorsed by the National Rifle Association. Jason Ouimet, Chairman of the NRA-Political Victory Fund penned a letter of support for James' re-election.

"I am grateful to have the support of the National Rifle Association. Our Second Amendment rights are under attack by Biden and Democrats," said Lankford. "I've supported conservative judges; I fought against Biden's extreme ATF nominee and successfully had him removed from consideration; and I'm pushing back on recent ATF regulations that continue to strip away the rights of every Oklahoman. I will continue to defend the rights of every law-abiding gun owner in Oklahoma and fight the right way to protect our Oklahoma conservative values."

Dear Sen. Lankford:

On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse your candidacy for the June 28, 2022, Republican primary election for U.S. Senate in Oklahoma.

As a U.S. Senator, you have staunchly defended the Second Amendment freedoms of NRA members and law-abiding gun owners in Oklahoma and throughout the country. Based on your consistent and proven voting record on Second Amendment issues in the U.S. Senate, you have earned an “A” rating from NRA-PVF. An “A” rating is reserved for a solidly pro-gun legislator who has supported NRA positions on key votes and issues.

NRA members greatly appreciate your steadfast opposition to the Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden gun control agenda of banning lawfully-owned firearms, ammunition and magazines. We also appreciate you voting multiple times against a so-called “universal” background check system, which would criminalize the private transfer of firearms between law-abiding citizens and is only enforceable through a federal firearms registry.

We also thank you for voting against legislation that would deny persons on secret government blacklists their ability to purchase or own a firearm without due process, as well as voting to overturn an Obama/Biden regulation that arbitrarily stripped social security recipients of their ability to possess a firearm for self-defense.

Moreover, we applaud your support for law-abiding citizens’ right to self-defense by cosponsoring and voting for Right-to-Carry reciprocity legislation, which would allow millions of law-abiding Americans who can carry a concealed firearm in their home state to do so in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. Furthermore, we commend you for sponsoring legislation to block the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) from implementing a proposed Biden rule to ban pistols attached with stabilizing braces and turn millions of American gun owners into felons overnight.

Finally, we thank you for voting to confirm scores of judges that respect and value the Second Amendment, including three Supreme Court Justices. The impact of your efforts cannot be overstated, as these judges will protect our individual freedoms for generations to come.

Congratulations on your “A” rating and endorsement, and thank you for your strong support of the Second Amendment. Good luck with your campaign, and we look forward to our continued relationship.

Sincerely,

Jason Ouimet
