TW Shannon schedules Senate campaign announcement this afternoon


 Former Oklahoma House Speaker T.W. Shannon is scheduled to "announce his candidacy in the Special Election for U.S. Senate" at 1pm today at the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City, according to a media release issued by his campaign.

Shannon served in the State House from 2006 to 2014, serving one year as Speaker before jumping into the special election to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, losing that GOP primary to eventual winner James Lankford.

Since exiting political office, Shannon has developed close ties to the influential Chickasaw Nation (of which he is a citizen), is the CEO of Chickasaw Community Bank, and National Chairman of Black Voices for Trump.
