Cornett Campaign Releases First Commercial
“One Oklahoma” highlights Cornett’s OK roots & mayoral success

OKLAHOMA CITY – Mick Cornett’s campaign for governor on Monday released their first campaign advertisement titled “One Oklahoma” highlighting Mick Cornett’s roots in Oklahoma and successful tenure as Oklahoma City Mayor.

“I am proud of our record as Oklahoma City Mayor,” Cornett said. “With 100,000 new jobs created, nearly 10,000 new businesses created, and one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, no city has come as far as fast. As Governor, my mission will be to work with our entire state, together as One Oklahoma, to give our state a similar success story.”

Cornett is a fifth-generation Oklahoman whose roots in Oklahoma date back to 1889. Born and raised in the state, he raised his family here and had a successful 20-year career as a broadcast journalist where he covered high school sports in every corner of the state.

Elected to City Council, then Mayor of Oklahoma City in 2004, Cornett’s tenure shaped the city into one of the best run cities in the country, and his legacy includes 14-straight, on-time balanced budgets, 100,000 new jobs and nearly 10,000 new businesses created, one of the most diversified economies in the country, and helped to bring the NBA to town.

Cornett’s leadership bona fides led to him recently being named to Fortune Magazine’s list of “The World’s 50 Greatest Leaders.”

The language in the commercial reads:

My family has been in Oklahoma since 1889. Grew up here, raised my family, pursued a career. Blessed to serve as a mayor, putting conservative leadership to work--nearly 100,000 new jobs. This type of success belongs in every corner of Oklahoma. I know this state and the amazing people who live here. Conservative leadership.  One Oklahoma.  Let’s make it happen.
