Legislature adjourns 'Sine Die'

Last night, the Oklahoma Legislature adjourned Sine Die, finishing work nearly three weeks ahead of the constitutional deadline. That's likely the earliest adjournment in decades. They leave the Capitol after having been in almost constant session since September, between two Extraordinary sessions and the Regular session.

The past nine months have been some of the most contentious at the Capitol in recent memory, with fights over education funding and almost dozens of tax increasing proposals. In the end, the Legislature passed the largest tax increase in decades, and approved the largest education budget in state history.

There remains a possibility that a third special session may be called if SQ788 (the medical marijuana initiative) passes, but until then, don't expect to see any legislators at the State Capitol. I think they've all had their fill of that building for a few months.
