Lankford joins effort to prohibit Dishonorable Discharge for unvaxxed soldiers
Lankford, Marshall, Cruz, Tuberville Want to Prohibit Dishonorable Discharge for Unvaccinated Service members
WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford, joined Senators Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-KS), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) in introducing the COVID-19 Vaccine Dishonorable Discharge Prevention Act to prohibit the Department of Defense (DOD) from giving service members a dishonorable discharge for choosing not to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The House Armed Services Committee recently passed similar language led by Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) in an amendment to the FY2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This legislation comes on the heels of President Biden mandating millions of Americans—including service members—to get vaccinated and the DOD issuing guidance stating that soldiers who refuse the vaccine will face “administrative or non-judicial punishment [under UCMJ] – to include relief of duties or discharge.”
Yesterday, Lankford demanded Biden reverse his policy on vaccine mandates and asked specific questions on protections for employees who request religious and medical accommodations as well as on the impact of employees with natural immunity. Lankford is calling on the Department of Defense to not force service members to choose between their sincerely held religious beliefs and serving in our nation’s military when it comes to getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

Kevin Stitt for Governor
Kevin Stitt was not my top choice for Governor in the primary. Quite frankly, there were several GOP candidates I had in front of him. However, Stitt surged from obscurity into the runoff with Mick Cornett.
I will be voting for Kevin Stitt without reservation.
As I said back in June, Mick Cornett was the only Republican candidate that I absolutely could not vote for. He was - and is - the clear liberal in the race, even supported by a Super PAC funded by a Hilary Clinton bundler. Richard Engle penned a great column on the evidence of Cornett's liberal leanings. Cornett would be Mary Fallin 2.0, or worse. I will never vote for Mick Cornett under any circumstance.
Cornett has merely solidified my resolve in the runoff.
The vulgar and crude direction his campaign has taken speaks ill of the character of the candidate. There is no excuse for stooping to the lows that he and his campaign have taken. No amount of "it's just politics", "that's just how this is done", or attempts to shrug it off will do. It reflects back on the integrity of Mick Cornett, and I find him to weighed in the balance and found wanting.
Kevin Stitt is a businessman who has had tremendous success in building a company during trying economic times. As his company has grown, and with the arena they operate in, there have been some issues [relatively minor in the scheme of things], but he has taken responsibility and made corrections when needed. That personal responsibility could not be said for Mick Cornett and his campaign direction.
Stitt has made government transparency and accountability a major theme of his campaign, something that Mary Fallin failed to do in her eight years. I believe this is incredibly important moving forward, especially as tax collections increase and state government clamors over how to spend the new surpluses we will likely have over the next few years.
On the important issues of life, constitutional freedoms, and religious liberties, Kevin Stitt will be much more reliable than Mick Cornett, who has failed to prove during his tenure in municipal government that he would defend those principles.
During the primary, Kevin Stitt took the time to answer my gubernatorial candidate survey, which went into depth on ten different widely ranging topics. You can read that here. Mick Cornett failed to respond - the only candidate unwilling to go on record (a common thread during his campaign).
In recent days, Stitt has been endorsed by former U.S. Senator and conservative stalwart Tom Coburn, 2016 Oklahoma presidential winner Ted Cruz, and 2012 Oklahoma presidential primary winner Rick Santorum.
A Mick Cornett administration would likely be a repeat of the Fallin years, with an increasingly liberal GOP legislature growing government and raising taxes. Under Kevin Stitt, I believe we would have a Governor who is willing to hold the line and rein in government.
On Tuesday, I will be casting my vote for the only conservative choice for Governor, Kevin Stitt.

Ted Cruz endorses Stitt for Governor
Tulsa, Oklahoma (August 22, 2018) – U.S. Senator and 2016 Oklahoma Republican presidential primary winner Ted Cruz today announced his endorsement of Kevin Stitt for Governor of Oklahoma.
“Our republic requires an active participation from all of us, and it's encouraging when solid conservatives step forward to run for office. I’m asking Oklahoma voters to carefully consider the choices before them this election cycle, and to stand with those who have proven themselves to be conservatives of conviction. In the race for Governor in Oklahoma, I am proud to endorse Kevin Stitt, and I urge the voters in Oklahoma to join me by supporting him,” said Ted Cruz.
“It is an honor to earn the support of Ted Cruz, a conservative, principled leader in the Republican party,” Stitt said. “Oklahomans rallied around Sen. Cruz when he courageously led the fight in Washington to repeal and replace ObamaCare. I have admired Cruz’s stalwart stance for free-market principles, for individual liberty, and for the Constitution, and I will lead with these conservative values as governor of Oklahoma.”
On Super Tuesday in 2016, Oklahomans chose Ted Cruz as their Republican nominee for president.

SENATOR TED CRUZ ENDORSES CATHY COSTELLO
(July 30, 2018) U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) announces his official endorsement for Cathy Costello in the race for Oklahoma Labor Commissioner. Sen. Cruz won Oklahoma's GOP Presidential Primary in 2016 with more than 158,000 Republican votes.
"Our republic requires an active participation by all of us and it's encouraging when solid conservatives step up to run for office," Ted Cruz says. "I'm asking Oklahoma voters to carefully consider the choices before them in this election cycle and to stand with those who have proven themselves to be conservatives of conviction. In the race for Labor Commissioner, I am proud to endorse Cathy Costello, and I urge the voters of Oklahoma to join me by supporting her."
Sen. Cruz won Oklahoma’s Republican Presidential primary with a strong conservative message and statewide community contact. Cathy Costello is campaigning across Oklahoma the same way.
"I am deeply honored to receive this endorsement from the leading conservative lawmaker in American politics," says Cathy Costello. "Senator Cruz and I met often during his Presidential campaign and I know he is a man of integrity and principle. He fought tirelessly to improve mental health legislation in Congress. I want the voters of Oklahoma to know that Senator Ted Cruz and I are both cut from the same cloth. We both came from humble beginnings and worked our way to success, we value the integrity of workers in the free market, and we both are determined to fight for limited government."
Cathy Costello is a co-founder of several businesses, both domestic and international, and is a sought-after national speaker and advocate on issues of mental health. She has been instrumental in passing major state and federal legislation to improve how employers address mental health needs in the workplace.
The Republican primary runoff for Labor Commissioner is scheduled for August 28 and the general election will be held November 6, 2018.

Cruz schools Bernie on Robin Hood and taxes
During the debate, Sanders referred to the GOP tax plan as "a Robin Hood proposal in the reverse". When Cruz got a chance, he tore that statement to shreds, educating Sanders (and leftists in general) about what Robin Hood really was doing.

Ted Cruz: "I will vote for Donald Trump"
"This election is unlike any other in our nation’s history. Like many other voters, I have struggled to determine the right course of action in this general election.
In Cleveland, I urged voters, “please, don’t stay home in November. Stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket whom you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution.”
After many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching my own conscience, I have decided that on Election Day, I will vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.
I’ve made this decision for two reasons. First, last year, I promised to support the Republican nominee. And I intend to keep my word.
Second, even though I have had areas of significant disagreement with our nominee, by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable — that’s why I have always been #NeverHillary.
Six key policy differences inform my decision. First, and most important, the Supreme Court. For anyone concerned about the Bill of Rights — free speech, religious liberty, the Second Amendment — the Court hangs in the balance. I have spent my professional career fighting before the Court to defend the Constitution. We are only one justice away from losing our most basic rights, and the next president will appoint as many as four new justices. We know, without a doubt, that every Clinton appointee would be a left-wing ideologue. Trump, in contrast, has promised to appoint justices “in the mold of Scalia.”
For some time, I have been seeking greater specificity on this issue, and today the Trump campaign provided that, releasing a very strong list of potential Supreme Court nominees — including Sen. Mike Lee, who would make an extraordinary justice — and making an explicit commitment to nominate only from that list. This commitment matters, and it provides a serious reason for voters to choose to support Trump.
Second, Obamacare. The failed healthcare law is hurting millions of Americans. If Republicans hold Congress, leadership has committed to passing legislation repealing Obamacare. Clinton, we know beyond a shadow of doubt, would veto that legislation. Trump has said he would sign it.
Third, energy. Clinton would continue the Obama administration’s war on coal and relentless efforts to crush the oil and gas industry. Trump has said he will reduce regulations and allow the blossoming American energy renaissance to create millions of new high-paying jobs.
Fourth, immigration. Clinton would continue and even expand President Obama’s lawless executive amnesty. Trump has promised that he would revoke those illegal executive orders.
Fifth, national security. Clinton would continue the Obama administration’s willful blindness to radical Islamic terrorism. She would continue importing Middle Eastern refugees whom the FBI cannot vet to make sure they are not terrorists. Trump has promised to stop the deluge of unvetted refugees.
Sixth, Internet freedom. Clinton supports Obama’s plan to hand over control of the Internet to an international community of stakeholders, including Russia, China, and Iran. Just this week, Trump came out strongly against that plan, and in support of free speech online.
These are six vital issues where the candidates’ positions present a clear choice for the American people.
If Clinton wins, we know — with 100% certainty — that she would deliver on her left-wing promises, with devastating results for our country.
My conscience tells me I must do whatever I can to stop that.
We also have seen, over the past few weeks and months, a Trump campaign focusing more and more on freedom — including emphasizing school choice and the power of economic growth to lift African-Americans and Hispanics to prosperity.
Finally, after eight years of a lawless Obama administration, targeting and persecuting those disfavored by the administration, fidelity to the rule of law has never been more important.
The Supreme Court will be critical in preserving the rule of law. And, if the next administration fails to honor the Constitution and Bill of Rights, then I hope that Republicans and Democrats will stand united in protecting our fundamental liberties.
Our country is in crisis. Hillary Clinton is manifestly unfit to be president, and her policies would harm millions of Americans. And Donald Trump is the only thing standing in her way.
A year ago, I pledged to endorse the Republican nominee, and I am honoring that commitment. And if you don’t want to see a Hillary Clinton presidency, I encourage you to vote for him."

Cruz announces Carly Fiorina as his VP pick
Presidential candidate Ted Cruz today announced that former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina would be his Vice Presidential running mate. As a groundbreaking executive and the first woman to lead a Fortune 50 company, Fiorina brings a record of innovation and tremendous leadership to the Cruz campaign. An outsider to politics, Fiorina adds a fresh perspective to the difficult challenges America faces and has a solutions-oriented approach that is desperately needed in the federal government.
“In choosing the person I believe would honorably and faithfully serve in the office of the Vice President – the person who under our Constitution could ascend either temporarily or permanently to the presidency – there must be a higher criteria, and that criteria must be this: will that person keep the faith and trust of the American people?” Ted Cruz said. “For all the enormously impressive qualities I saw in others whom I considered for the office of the Vice Presidency of the United States, I found a clear choice:
“One who has never been afraid to stand up to the insider status quo. Who knows the principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution because this leader has lived them – a life dedicated to the dignity of work, of our right to pursue our wildest aspirations – and to help others do the same. And a leader who understands that power never has and never will come from the government – here in the United States it comes from the people.
“Who respects the people, who has worked alongside them, and who will serve them with an unbreakable purpose of protecting every one of their rights – and making sure that the America we hand to our kids and grandkids is better than the one before us today.
“For the 13 months of this race, there has been a proven, consistent, courageous fighter. A fighter who terrifies Hillary. And who will do the same to our enemies. And that’s why I am proud to announce Carly Fiorina as my Vice Presidential running mate.”
“Ted Cruz is a constitutional conservative who has made enemies in both parties standing up to the bipartisan corruption in Washington,” said Carly Fiorina. “He has fought to change the system. He kept his word to the people of Texas, and I know, if elected, he will keep his word and bring back American jobs, defend our nation, and protect our constitutional freedoms.
“Make no mistake: this is a fight now. Ted and I can't do this without your help. And this is about all of us. It's about whether we want our kids to be able to get a good paying job when they get out of school. It's about whether we want to turn our backs on religious liberty and our second amendment. It's about whether we want to live in a nation that secures its borders and calls Islamic terrorism by its name. It is about whether we believe America must lead again in the world.
“This is why we fight. Join us. And let's elect Ted Cruz the next President of the United States.”

It's time for a Cuban Compact
This Republican presidential primary has turned out to be rather depressing. Starting the season off, we had the youngest, most diverse, most talented set of candidates ever going up against a weak, homogenous Democratic field of old, white northeastern liberals. The contrast was going to be tremendous. Yesterday versus Tomorrow, New versus Old. This was going to be our year.
Along came Donald Trump.
Where things stand now, the frontrunners for both the Democratic and Republican parties are old, rich white liberals from New York. Not a lot of variety.
I've posted quite a bit about why Donald Trump is a terrible choice. He would be a disaster as the Republican nominee, and I cannot in good conscience vote for him to be our next President. Trump must be stopped, and the best way to do that is to defeat him in the primary. Only one candidate left can do that -- Ted Cruz.
Marco Rubio is a talented young conservative, who had a bright future and huge potential. He would have made a great president, far more conservative than anyone since Ronald Reagan, and perhaps even more so than Ronaldus Magnus himself.
However, Rubio's chance has come -- and gone. His campaign is practically finished. He has no path to victory. There is only one thing he can do now to stop Donald Trump.
It's time for a Cuban Compact.
In the 24 primaries or caucuses thus far, Marco Rubio has finished ahead of Donald Trump 2 times. Ted Cruz has beaten Trump 8 times. Rubio has finished second to Trump in 2 states, and Cruz has finished second to Trump in 8 states.
Rubio's polling has plummeted in recent days. In most Florida polls, he's barely ahead of Cruz (just outside of the margin of error). In Ohio, he's in fourth, in single digits. In other states, the best he can get is a [distant] tie for second place.
The election results are proving Ted Cruz's case for him -- he's the only one who is giving Trump a run for the money. Rubio's
Erick Erickson and others have been calling for Rubio to drop out and join Ted Cruz for a unity ticket. This does several things: saves face for Rubio by avoiding an embarrassing loss in Florida, unifies the party, gives a tremendous contrast to Hillary Clinton, and saves Rubio's future political ambitions (let's face it -- a loss in Florida would be damaging to any future run for Rubio). I agree with them.
A Cruz/Rubio presidential ticket would be the best thing conservatives have ever had on the national level. It's time for the two Cubans to get together and make it happen while there's still time.
