8 years later, Dahm recalls viral showdown with Piers Morgan

Sen. Dahm celebrates eighth anniversary of debate with fake news Piers Morgan

OKLAHOMA CITY – Thursday, Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, issued the following statement:

“Eight years ago, Piers Morgan was headlining CNN nightly and using his platform to rail against our Second Amendment rights. He apparently never saw the irony of a Brit trying to take away our guns or never learned the history of our response to King George III when he tried the same thing.

“When I filed my ‘Piers Morgan Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms Without Infringement Act,’ he quickly took the bait and challenged me to come on his show to debate the bill. In a bittersweet moment, Piers was fired by CNN just a few weeks after our debate. It was bittersweet because I had enough material to go back on his show at least another half dozen times to demolish his arguments again.

Relative of Mexican massacre victims: hold onto your guns

Last Monday, nine American citizens were gunned down in Mexico by a drug cartel, caught in an ambush on a highway in the northern state of Sonora. The caravan of three vehicles was headed from one Mormon community to another for a family wedding; six of the victims were children ranging from eight months old to twelve years old. Eight children survived and were eventually rescued after hiding in the brush.

Kendra Lee Miller, a sister-in-law of one of the victims, went on CNN last week and had this to say (17:10 mark):
“I don’t know where you’re standing on the whole, people-trying-to-take-the-away-guns-in-America right now, but I say, fight for those guns,” she told Cooper. “These things are happening here in Mexico because the people can’t protect themselves, because by law they’re not allowed to own these guns. So since the government isn’t doing their job of protection in the way that they should, these cartels can just wreak havoc and the people are left defenseless. So I say, hold onto your guns, people.” [transcript courtesy of Disrn.com]
When a people is disarmed, and unable to legally protect themselves, anarchy and oppression by barbaric criminal elements such as exists in Mexico is the ultimate end. All the more reason for Americans to cling to their guns and resist efforts by Leftists to disarm us.

CNN "This is an Apple" ad BRILLIANTLY trolled

CNN posted this video yesterday as part of a "Facts First" campaigned, seemingly aimed at President Trump and conservatives who cry "Fake New" over some of the mainstream media's reporting:

Since the video was posted, it has been lampooned, but none have been as brilliant as this:

Cruz schools Bernie on Robin Hood and taxes

U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) met on CNN last night for a debate on tax reform.

During the debate, Sanders referred to the GOP tax plan as "a Robin Hood proposal in the reverse". When Cruz got a chance, he tore that statement to shreds, educating Sanders (and leftists in general) about what Robin Hood really was doing.

Trump vs. CNN, Indiana Jones-style

Following the now-infamous satirical video of Trump body-slamming CNN to the ground, some folks have taken it upon themselves to come up with other versions. The above screenshots are from my personal favorite, planting Trump and CNN in the famous Raiders of the Lost Ark scene. View the hilarious video here.

In other news, blogging here will be a bit slow for the next two weeks, so take advantage of the other sites and blogs I've linked to on the sidebar. SoonerPolitics.org is a good one for Oklahoma-based news, as well as TheOkie.com and McCarvilleReport.com. HotAir.com, RedState.com, and TheResurgent.com are great places to look for national news.

RNC Chairman to NBC, CNN: no GOP debates if Clinton programs air

RNC Chairman Calls on NBC and CNN to Stop Promoting Hillary Clinton
RNC will not partner with networks in 2016 primary debates

WASHINGTON – Today Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus sent a letter to Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, and Jeff Zucker, President of CNN Worldwide, calling on their networks to cancel their attempts to influence Americans’ political decisions. Both networks are airing programs promoting former Secretary Hillary Clinton ahead of her likely candidacy for president in 2016. NBC has announced plans to air a miniseries, while CNN is producing a documentary. If the productions are not canceled prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting, Chairman Priebus will seek a binding vote of the RNC to prevent the committee from partnering with these networks in 2016 primary debates or sanctioning debates they sponsor.

“It’s appalling to know executives at major networks like NBC and CNN who have donated to Democrats and Hillary Clinton have taken it upon themselves to be Hillary Clinton’s campaign operatives,” said Chairman Priebus. “Their actions to promote Secretary Clinton are disturbing and disappointing. I hope Americans will question the credibility of these networks and that NBC and CNN will reconsider their partisan actions and cancel these political ads masked as unbiased entertainment. If they have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote stating that the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor.”

This is good to see from Chairman Priebus. For far too long, the GOP has allowed the media to dominate the presidential primary debates, while pushing their extreme liberal bias. The next step is to replace liberal moderators with actual conservative Republicans.

A sign of things to come? NRCC making robocalls against Boren

The National Republican Congressional Committee, the campaign arm of the U.S. House GOP, is out with a new robocall in Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District blasting Congressman Dan Boren (D-Muskogee) for voting against GOP budget bills.

CNN reports that the NRCC is also targeting other Democrat House members with similar ad or phone campaigns. Most of the targets are vulnerable 'Blue Dogs'.

Boren had his closest race yet in 2010, receiving 56.5% of the vote. If the Republicans can field a viable candidate, it appears that the NRCC is willing to step up and help.

[note - I received one of the NRCC robocalls]

And It Begins: First Presidential Primary Debates Announced

Get ready - the 2012 Presidential election is almost upon us!

Yes, the first Republican primary debates have already been announced. Nancy Reagan made public last month plans for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation to hold a debate in the spring of 2011, co-hosted by Politico and NBC News.

Today, CNN and the New Hampshire Union Leader announced that they will host a debate on June 7th, 2011, for the Republican candidates.

Along those lines, I'd like to point out that the old Race42008 blog has re-launched, now called Race42012.com (also affiliated with RightOSphere.com). R4'12 was a top site for news on the Presidential election, from the beginning of the primary. You will want to bookmark this site for Presidential primary information.

News from around the Blogosphere

  • More Californians are moving to Oklahoma than vice-versa. USAToday has a nice story on the topic here.
  • Talk about a cool science project! A New York dad and his seven year-old son sent a balloon over 100,000 feet up, complete with a video recorder and an iPhone (for tracking purposes). Read more here
  •  A CNN/Opinion Research midterm poll finds that on every issue you can think of, voters think that Republicans would take us in the right direction, and that Democrats would take us in the wrong direction (by greater margins than for the GOP).

I couldn't pass up the chance to post this video by RightChange.com... enjoy!

Obama: "We Can't Control Nature"

President Obama spoke today about the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the South American nation of Chile.
"We can't control nature, but we can and must be prepared for disaster when it strikes," he said in a brief statement at the White House, speaking of a potential tsunami looming over parts of the Pacific, including Hawaii.
Ironic, don't you think? Remind me again on what he thinks about global cooling global warming climate change?

Meteorologist: Global Warming "Arrogant"

Ice in New England and the Midwest, snow in Las Vegas and Malibu.

Global Warming?

Residents impacted by the recent winter weather certainly aren't thinking about anthropogenic (man-caused) climate change, although, the incoming administration might be, as I posted last week.

A meteorologist with CNN (who used to be with KOCO-TV Oklahoma City) criticized global warming frenzy as "arrogant".

CNN's Chad Meyers went on 'Lou Dobbs Tonight' Thursday the 18th, saying that "to think that we could affect weather all that much is pretty arrogant. Mother Nature... the world... the oceans are so big - I think we're going to die from lack of fresh water or die from ocean acidification before we die from global warming, for sure."

You can read more about this on Business & Media Institute's story here.
