AG Drummond to testify before House committee in impeachment hearing against Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas

Drummond to testify before U.S. House committee in impeachment proceedings against Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 8, 2024) - Attorney General Gentner Drummond will testify Wednesday to the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee as part of that panel’s impeachment proceedings against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The action comes in the wake of Mayorkas’ failure to secure the nation’s southwest border.

Drummond was invited to testify due to his focus of ridding Oklahoma of the foreign nationals who have invaded the marijuana industry. He is expected to tell committee members how the recent influx of illegal immigrants into the U.S. has allowed criminal enterprises, primarily populated by Mexican and Chinese nationals, to jeopardize public safety through drug trafficking and other crimes.

State Senate votes to strengthen law against illegal foreign ownership of Oklahoma land

Senate votes to strengthen law against illegal foreign ownership of Oklahoma land

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 8th) – A measure to stop the illegal purchase of Oklahoma land passed the Senate unanimously Wednesday. Sen. David Bullard, R-Durant, worked with the attorney general’s office in crafting Senate Bill 212 to keep non-U.S. citizens from directly or indirectly, through a business entity or trust, owning land in the state unless otherwise authorized by law.

“Oklahoma land is as rich for growing crops as it is with the heritage of hard-working people.  It is no wonder a lot of people want land here, including those from other countries,” Bullard said. “It is not an excuse to allow foreign nationals to buy up one of our most valuable resources, especially when they are cartels and from communist parties. We cannot continue to auction our state off to the highest criminal bidder.”

Mexican consulate opening in OKC in spring 2023

GOVERNOR STITT ANNOUNCES MEXICAN CONSULATE COMING TO OKLAHOMA CITY IN SPRING 2023
Edurne Pineda to serve as first Head Consul

OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 13, 2022) – Today Governor Kevin Stitt announced a Mexican consulate is scheduled to open in Oklahoma City next spring. The Consulate of Mexico will provide consular services and assistance to the growing Mexican community in the state while promoting economic, commercial, educational, cultural, tourism, and community affairs relations between Mexican entities and Oklahoma stakeholders. Gov. Stitt has been advocating for the opening of this consulate and visited Mexico last year to present this proposal to the Government of Mexico. Over the past two years the governor has worked to embrace and address the needs of the Latino community and today’s announcement serves as a testament to the longevity of that commitment.

“As Oklahoma’s Mexican community grows, I’m glad that these Oklahomans can get the services they need right here in our state, rather driving hours across state lines for simple paperwork,” said Governor Stitt. “I am thankful for the collaboration and shared vision between Oklahoma and Mexico that made this a reality.”

Consul Edurne Pineda has been appointed as Head Consul of the cónsul. Consul Pineda is a Mexican career diplomat with a specialization in consular affairs and a long trajectory in this field. She has been working on the opening of the Consulate with the expectation to inaugurate its operation with full services by the end of the spring of 2023.

“It has been an honor to work with Governor Stitt to establish the Mexican Consulate in Oklahoma City,” said Consul Edurne Pineda. “I am certain that we will be great partners towards forging a better development for the Mexican community in the state and a deeper and stronger relationship between Mexico and Oklahoma.”

The Mexican Consulate was brought to Oklahoma due to the efforts of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard, along with the approval of the federal government. Mayor David Holt as well as Mexican community leaders have also consistently manifested the need to have this consular representation in Oklahoma.

“This is a great announcement for the people of Oklahoma City,” said Mayor David Holt. “There is a large population of Mexican Americans in our state, with more than 100,000 in Oklahoma City alone. Access to these services is important, and I congratulate the leaders in our Mexican American community who have advocated for this facility for many years.”

Roy Williams, President and CEO of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber said the Consulate is also important for the business community adding, “Mexico is an important trade partner for our state and the presence of these offices here will support continued growth.”

While the Consulate of Mexico in Oklahoma City opens its operation, the Consulates of Mexico in Little Rock and Kansas will continue to provide consular services to the Mexican community of Oklahoma.

Relative of Mexican massacre victims: hold onto your guns

Last Monday, nine American citizens were gunned down in Mexico by a drug cartel, caught in an ambush on a highway in the northern state of Sonora. The caravan of three vehicles was headed from one Mormon community to another for a family wedding; six of the victims were children ranging from eight months old to twelve years old. Eight children survived and were eventually rescued after hiding in the brush.

Kendra Lee Miller, a sister-in-law of one of the victims, went on CNN last week and had this to say (17:10 mark):
“I don’t know where you’re standing on the whole, people-trying-to-take-the-away-guns-in-America right now, but I say, fight for those guns,” she told Cooper. “These things are happening here in Mexico because the people can’t protect themselves, because by law they’re not allowed to own these guns. So since the government isn’t doing their job of protection in the way that they should, these cartels can just wreak havoc and the people are left defenseless. So I say, hold onto your guns, people.” [transcript courtesy of Disrn.com]
When a people is disarmed, and unable to legally protect themselves, anarchy and oppression by barbaric criminal elements such as exists in Mexico is the ultimate end. All the more reason for Americans to cling to their guns and resist efforts by Leftists to disarm us.

OK's GOP delegation celebrates one year of USMCA, urges passage through Congress

No comment from Oklahoma's lone Democratic member of Congress, Kendra Horn (D, OK-05)...

Oklahoma delegation celebrates one year of USMCA, urges passage through Congress

Washington, DC – Members of Oklahoma’s Congressional delegation released statements in support of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) this afternoon on the one-year anniversary of President Donald Trump’s announcement of the three-country trade agreement.

Rep. Kevin Hern: “One year ago today, President Trump announced the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, following through on his promise to put America first and renegotiate bad deals that put us at a disadvantage. After a full year, and the approvals of both Mexico and Canada, we are surprisingly nowhere closer to implementing this new trade deal. While a vast majority of Americans – and a bipartisan majority of Congress – support the USMCA, Speaker Pelosi refuses to allow a debate or vote on the House floor out of spite for our President. This goes beyond partisan games; this deal will create 176,000 new jobs and stimulate more than $68 billion in new economic growth. Simply put, the USMCA is good for America. It’s time to put the American people ahead of politics and pass the USMCA!”

Senator Jim Inhofe: “The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement is a good deal and we need to make it a reality,” Inhofe said. “One year after President Trump’s announcement of the USMCA, Speaker Pelosi still hasn’t brought it up for a vote. This deal replaces the outdated NAFTA agreement that I opposed because it harmed American truckers and put our businesses at a disadvantage. Oklahoma farmers, ranchers and manufacturers demand trade certainty and this will provide them with just that. Speaker Pelosi needs to put her partisan politics aside and make this deal happen.”

Senator James Lankford:  “We have seen a year of unnecessary delay since President Trump first announced the USMCA, as our nation waits for Speaker Pelosi to allow the trade agreement to see the light of day in the House,” said Lankford. “I believe the USMCA would easily pass the House, if Speaker Pelosi will stop needlessly stonewalling this important improvement for our trade in North America. My staff and I worked directly with the Administration to ensure Oklahoma voices were heard in its negotiations. With billions of dollars in trade with Canada and Mexico benefiting our agricultural communities, technology companies, and manufacturing industry, we need to immediately prioritize passage of this agreement for the good of the American people.”

Rep. Frank Lucas: “In Oklahoma we produce more goods than we can consume. Therefore selling into the world market is critical to many industries across the state including agriculture  and energy. That is why on the anniversary of USMCA’s announcement and nearly every other day since then, I call on House Democratic Leadership to bring this to the House floor for a vote. This is a win for Oklahoma, for the United States and for North America as a whole.”

Rep. Tom Cole: “It’s been a year since President Trump successfully negotiated the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement to rightly update trading terms with our two closest North American neighbors and trading partners. Trade with Mexico and Canada already supports 12 million jobs in America, including 10,400 jobs right in Oklahoma. And while USMCA already has bipartisan support, House Democratic leaders continue to stall its progress toward ratification. Unfortunately, every day of their inaction marks another day that American entrepreneurs, farmers and ranchers unnecessarily miss out on the benefits USMCA has to offer. When lawmakers return later this month for legislative session, I hope Democratic leaders will at last choose to schedule this free and fair agreement for a House vote and release its many benefits to the American people.”

Rep. Markwayne Mullin: “President Trump promised the American people a better trade deal with our North American trading partners and one year ago today, he delivered on that promise. The USMCA is good for American farmers, ranchers, workers, manufacturers, and businesses. This is a huge opportunity to put the United States on a level playing field with our neighbors. It’s unfortunate that Speaker Pelosi is so caught up in partisan politics that she has refused to give the American people this win. It’s time quit playing games and pass the USMCA.”

Background Information:

The United-States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will replace the current NAFTA agreement that governs trade across North America. The new agreement modernizes the 24-year-old NAFTA, supporting mutually-beneficial trade to continue strong economic growth in North America.

While the negotiations concluded a year ago with the agreement of all three countries, and both Mexico and Canada have ratified the agreement, the United States’ Congress has yet to ratify the USMCA.

Lucas comments on Trump Agreement with Mexico

Lucas Statement on Trump Agreement with Mexico

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement regarding President Trump’s announcement of an agreement with Mexico and their commitment to address the humanitarian and security crisis at the United States’ Southern border:

“The agreement between President Trump and Mexico is fantastic news for the American economy, American security, and America’s producers. Tonight, we witnessed the President’s ability to negotiate bring a change to the United States.

Instead of imposing a tariff on one of our country’s largest trading partners, President Trump has assured the American people that Mexico will take a much tougher stance on illegal immigration currently migrating through their country. The outcome of this agreement is a win for both Oklahoma and America. I hope this agreement will lead to the passage of the U.S.M.C.A. and I strongly urge my colleagues to move for its immediate adoption.”

The Conservative View: My Home My Castle

This week's Conservative View, by Adair County Commissioner Russell Turner (R-Stilwell).
The Conservative View
by Russell Turner

My Home My Castle

One of the American dreams is to own your home. It is a good feeling to have a place in the world that you can go to and be safe and secure. Having your own home enables you to make decisions of who you allow into your house and who you can ask to leave. For example, if a person knocks on your door you do not have to let them in, any prudent person would like to have some information on their house guests. Very few people will invite a rank stranger into their home, most people would want to know at least what their name is and what business they have being at their home. It would be nice if we lived in a world where we could have blind trust in our fellow humans but sadly we don’t live in such a world. The news media is full of instances where humans do unspeakable acts to each other. With all of that being said we can relate to someone coming into our homes, but many people have a hard time understanding the problem of illegal immigration.

Over the past week there have been outcries from self-serving politicians and various groups condemning the governor of Arizona for signing a bill that will attempt to get a handle on the problem of illegal immigration. Our country is our home, why shouldn’t we care as much for our country as our little piece of real estate that our house happens to set on? The people of Arizona are experiencing all kinds of problems such as illegal drug traffic and the violence that accompanies it. Are we content to allow the drug wars that are destroying Mexico being brought to the streets of American cities? I have a question and a suggestion for all of those groups protesting the actions of the people of Arizona.

#1. What part of illegal do these groups not understand? I have heard the statement that these are people that are just trying to make a living. While I appreciate anyone who has the energy to make it on his own, would we be willing to overlook a crime such as bank robbery just because they are here to make a living?

#2. If all the people doing the protesting would devote half as much time and sponsor these people they could help them enter our country legally. Then these people would have all of the protections we citizens enjoy and not be subject to exploitation from unscrupulous people in our country. America is my home, when people immigrate legally they are protected and our country as well.

Border patrol agent held at gunpoint by Mexican soldiers

Washington Times: Border Agent held at gunpoint by Mexican military
"A U.S. Border Patrol agent was held at gunpoint Sunday night by members of the Mexican military who had crossed the border into Arizona, but the soldiers returned to Mexico without incident when backup agents responded to assist."
Further down in the article: "Since 1996, there have been more than 200 confirmed incursions by the Mexican military into the United States."
"It was unclear what the soldiers were doing in the United States, but U.S. law enforcement authorities have long said that current and former Mexican military personnel have been hired to protect drug and migrant smugglers."
