Oklahoma Freedom Caucus challenges Tinker Air Force Base’s “National Coming Out Day” event

Oklahoma Freedom Caucus Challenges Tinker Air Force Base’s “National Coming Out Day” Event

Oklahoma City, OK (Oct. 15th) –  The Oklahoma Freedom Caucus challenges the decision to host and promote “National Coming Out Day” on Tinker Air Force Base.

Senator Shane Jett, OKFC Chairman and U.S. Navy veteran, expressed the criticism shared by thousands of military families. “Military bases have significant budgets to cultivate positive relationships in their communities. It’s incomprehensible that Tinker Air Force Base would openly promote a prurient lifestyle that would obviously affront the tenets of faith of over 75% of Oklahoma’s professing Christian population as well those practicing Jewish and Muslim faiths. It is vulgar, prurient, inappropriate, and unbecoming of our military facilities.” said Senator Jett.

Cong. Brecheen to speak at launch of new Oklahoma Freedom Caucus on Tuesday

Conservatives in the Oklahoma Legislature are gaining a new tool for organization and action. The State Freedom Caucus Network announced today that the Oklahoma Freedom Caucus will be holding a launch on Tuesday at the State Capitol, featuring Congressman Josh Brecheen, himself a member of the U.S. House Freedom Caucus and a former Oklahoma state senator from the stalwart conservative wing.

A similar effort took place in 2017 with the formation of the Platform Caucus. Although many of the members were controversially taken out in the 2018 primaries and runoffs by the well-monied moderate establishment, the Platform Caucus had some success in killing some tax hike proposals in 2017 and 2018.

Brecheen explains why he voted against 'swampy, status-quo Continuing Resolution'

I'm a little behind, but here's 2nd District Congressman Josh Brecheen explaining why he voted against the 'continuing resolution' government funding measure (the only other member of Oklahoma's congressional delegation to oppose the latest kick-the-can spending bill was 1st District Congressman Kevin Hern).

Congressman Josh Brecheen Votes Against Swampy, Status Quo Continuing Resolution (CR)

Washington, D.C. (September 30th) – Today, Congressman Josh Brecheen voted against H.R. 5860 - Continuing Appropriations Act, 2024 and Other Extensions Act.

“We should not be funding the government at current levels when our national debt is more than $33 trillion and the average family of four is spending $1,200 more a month to buy the exact same goods and services. If we are going to fund the government, we need meaningful cuts to spending and we need to secure our border,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen.

We need strong, principled, conservative reinforcements and Mr. Coleman will be a welcome addition."

8th House Freedom Caucus member endorses Coleman for Congress

1st Congressional District GOP candidate Andy Coleman has gained his eighth endorsement from members of the House Freedom Caucus. Taken with fellow primary candidate Kevin Hern's endorsement by a moderate GOP group, the 1st District primary appears to be setting up as a "principled conservative" versus "pragmatic conservative" battle based on the endorsements Coleman and Hern have received.

Congressman Randy Weber Endorses Coleman for U.S. Congress

TULSA, OK:  Today, Congressman Randy Weber (R-TX) officially endorsed Captain Andy Coleman, a Republican, in his bid to be the next U.S. congressman for Oklahoma’s First District.  Weber became the seventh member of Congress to endorse Coleman’s campaign.

“Andy Coleman can be trusted to lead the fight to defend our conservative values,” explained Weber.  “Anyone who’s looked at his background knows he isn’t afraid of tough fights.  We need more conservative champions like Andy who aren’t afraid to drain the swamp in Washington, and that’s why I’m pleased to endorse him.”

“I am so grateful Congressman Weber lent his support to my campaign,” expressed Coleman.  “He’s a serious conservative committed to draining the D.C. swamp.  That’s the tough fight that lies ahead for me.  Draining the swamp will be neither easy nor pleasant.  But most of my life involved overcoming challenges that were neither easy nor pleasant.  I’m up for the fight, and alongside other conservative champions like Randy Weber, I look forward to rolling back D.C.”

A successful businessman, Congressman Weber serves as a conservative U.S. representative from Texas.  He joins an extensive roster of conservative leaders who also endorsed Coleman’s campaign.  That roster includes former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, Dr. Everett Piper, as well as several prominent U.S. Congressmen, such as Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows, Steve King, Ken Buck, Andy Harris, Jody Hice, and Tom Garrett.  Multiple conservative organizations also endorsed Coleman, including the Combat Veterans for Congress and the Madison Project.

Hern endorsed by Republican Main Street Partnership

In the GOP primary to replace former 1st District congressman Jim Bridenstine, fundraising leader Kevin Hern has now been endorsed by the Republican Main Street Partnership and their associated Political Action Committee. Hern is one of the first ten non-incumbent candidates they endorsed for this cycle, and also received a maximum $5,000 contribution from their PAC.

The Main Street group emphasizes "pragmatic conservatism", saying "our members represent the governing wing" of the GOP. In 2017, they formed a new caucus within the House GOP with over 70 moderate and centrist members of the House GOP. It more or less counters the very conservative Freedom Caucus, seven members of which have endorsed another candidate in the 1st District (Andy Coleman).

Another big endorsement for 1st Congressional District GOP candidate Andy Coleman:

Congressman Jim Jordan Joins Conservative Surge of Support for Coleman

TULSA, OK: Today, Captain Andy Coleman announced he has received the endorsement of Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH).

“Congress needs more conservative veterans like Andy Coleman who will bring an outsider’s perspective to Capitol Hill,” stated Congressman Jim Jordan. “I know Andy will stand firmly in defense of our conservative values. He will fight to keep our nation safe, secure our border, defund Planned Parenthood and work to undo Obamacare. The people of Oklahoma can count on Andy Coleman to represent their conservative values with courage and conviction.”

In 2016, Politico called Congressman Jordan the “most powerful Republican in the House after Paul Ryan.” Jordan has been an advocate of the taxpayer – looking for waste, fraud and abuse in Washington – and his conservative record earned him accolades from groups like Citizens against Government Waste and the Family Research Council. He also helped found the House Freedom Caucus.

“I am absolutely thrilled to receive Congressman Jordan’s endorsement,” expressed Andy Coleman. “He is a genuine conservative leader who I deeply respect, and I am truly humbled to have his support."

Another Freedom Caucus Congressman Endorses Coleman for Congress

Congressman Tom Garrett (R-VA) Endorses Captain Andy Coleman

TULSA, OK:  Andy Coleman has secured another endorsement by a sitting member of Congress in the race to succeed Congressman Jim Bridenstine (R-OK).  Congressman Tom Garrett, who represents Virginia’s Fifth District, lent his support to Coleman’s campaign.  The surge of support for Coleman – a military veteran of Iraq and former field leader for the Voice of the Martyrs – continues to accelerate as the June 26 primary approaches.

"Andy Coleman's history of serving others makes him well suited to represent the people of Oklahoma's First District,” shared Congressman Garrett.  “Andy will be a strong, reliable voice for Oklahoma and for our Nation."

“Congressman Garrett’s endorsement means a lot to me, and I look forward to serving alongside him as a fellow veteran in U.S. Congress,” stated Coleman.  “Tom’s selfless service to our nation as both a military leader and public servant makes him an important voice to our conservative movement.”

Prior to representing Virginia’s 5th District in Congress, Garrett served for six years on active duty with the United States Army.  Garrett is also the former Commonwealth’s Attorney in Louisa County, Virginia and a former State Senator in the Virginia General Assembly.  In Congress, Garrett has led the charge to reign in federal spending and advance constitutional principles.

Garrett’s endorsement follows a string of high-profile endorsements for Coleman’s campaign, including former U.S. presidential candidate Rick Santorum, Congressman Jody Hice, Dr. Everett Piper, and the Combat Veterans for Congress.

Captain Andy Coleman is seeking the Republican nomination for the open congressional seat in Oklahoma’s First District.  He is an Air Force Academy graduate and former intelligence officer who served in the Middle East.  He is the only candidate in the race with military and national security experience – critical skill sets in short supply in the House.  For six years, Coleman led efforts to aid persecuted Christians in 17 hostile and restricted countries, as the Middle East Regional Director for the Voice of the Martyrs, a Christian ministry based in Bartlesville.  Andy is an attorney, husband, father of three and resides in Owasso, Oklahoma.

[Blogger's note: Congressman Garrett is the second member of the House Freedom Caucus to endorse Coleman. Congressman Jody Hice, who endorsed Coleman last week, is also a Freedom Caucus member.]
