Ban on obscene adult performances in public passed, heads to Governor to sign

Good bill:

Bill Banning Obscene Adult Performances in Public Goes to Governor

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 1st) – Sen. David Bullard, R-Durant, successfully secured final passage of a bill that bans obscene adult performances on public property or anywhere children may be present.

On Thursday, the full Senate passed House Bill 1217, prohibiting individuals from performing sexually explicit or obscene acts in public places or areas where minors are present. It also prevents political subdivisions of the state from authorizing or hosting such performances on public property or in spaces that are open to children.

Violators of HB 1217 could be charged with a misdemeanor and face up to one year in jail and $1,000 in fines.

State law defines obscene material as any representation, performance, depiction or description of sexual conduct that the average person would find patently offensive.

“This bill is about protecting children and ensuring that our public spaces remain safe and family-friendly for all,” Bullard said. “There is no justification for exposing children to obscene, sexual performances, and it defies logic that some cities allow such offensive acts in public places. These inappropriate and obscene performances have no place in our society.”

Hello, Walters? Controversial Waurika school assignment was from State-approved curriculum

This is a follow-up to my article from Wednesday, Perverted assignment given to students at Waurika High School, which covered a very detailed high school class assignment on sexual activities, including illegal and unnatural acts.

Parents in the community were rightfully upset, as pictures of the assignment quickly disseminated among even elementary students at the school.

Jenni White at Reclaim Oklahoma Parent Empowerment (ROPE) interviewed the mother who first went public with the perverted assignment (you should read the whole thing):

A truly unfortunate event happened in the classroom of Ashlyn Jade’s niece at Waurika Public Schools Monday afternoon.

According to an interview with Ashlyn this afternoon, Coach Roger Jesse, a teacher/coach with 40+ years in Oklahoma education – and someone with many years of service and an excellent reputation in Waurika Public Schools – gave his 11th grade psychology class an assignment that has now made internet viral status.

Coach Jesse was asked to teach a new extra curricular psychology class at Waurika High School this semester. Ashlyn believes that, in a hurry and under duress from a strenuous teaching/coaching schedule, he downloaded a STATE APPROVED psychology curriculum to use during his class on Monday afternoon, copied it and handed it out without really reviewing it.

Perverted assignment given to students at Waurika High School

UPDATE: Hello, Walters? Controversial Waurika school assignment
was from State-approved curriculum

Heads up, content warning. This sexually perverted assignment was given to students Monday in a psychology class at Waurika High School with no apparent prior notice to parents.

It was part of the class curriculum, and school officials are claiming they had no idea it was in there (why they don't know what's in what they teach is a good question). I'd also ask what else is in this curriculum.

Waurika, Oklahoma. Population 1,837. High school with approximately 125 students.

Certifiably insane, morally destructive, culturally suicidal stuff like this is being taught to children in rural and small town public schools in even red-state Bible-belt Oklahoma.

If you value virtue, biblical morality, a decent societal future, and common sense, speak up.

I might also recommend homeschooling your kids. If you have questions about how to homeschool, send me an email (JamisonFaught@MuskogeePolitico.com) and I can either communicate with you directly or connect you with helpful resources.

Sen. Deevers aims bills at restoring moral sanity in Oklahoma

Another set of excellent bills by State Sen. Dusty Deevers. Pray that these can get a fair and just hearing in the Legislature!

Deevers Introduces Slate of Legislation to Restore Moral Sanity in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 22nd) — Sen. Dusty Deevers, R-Elgin, announced on Tuesday a bold slate of eight legislative measures aimed at restoring moral sanity in Oklahoma. Together, these bills set a course for pushing back against the moral decay foisted upon Oklahoma by the far-left’s march through our institutions to destroy the moral foundations upon which the United States and Christian Civilization had long rested.

“Sadly, the left’s century-long assault on morality and decency has been so successful that some have come to accept as normal a society that is drowning in hardcore pornography, prenatal homicide, and sexual performances for children. None of this is normal. Each one of these evils is a result of a policy choice to not stand for what we know is right. Opposing these evils does not mean we are extremists. It means we are sane,” Deevers said.

Small: One solution to student absenteeism

One solution to student absenteeism
By Jonathan Small

School absenteeism is contributing to poor academic outcomes and other negative trends in Oklahoma.

According to a legislative study conducted last October, average daily attendance figures showed 94% of enrolled students were typically in Oklahoma classrooms in 2019, but following COVID attendance dropped to 80% at many state schools.

That has obvious negative impact on student learning and outcomes.

While there are many strategies to address that problem, one measure at the Oklahoma Capitol may improve student attendance—even though that isn’t the primary goal of the bill.

Small: Child protections merit lawmakers’ support

Child protections merit lawmakers’ support
By Jonathan Small

Amid the typical debate over budget priorities and policy issues this year, Oklahoma lawmakers are also considering bills to better prevent child exposure to pornography. Those bills deserve legislators’ support.

State Sen. Jerry Alvord, R-Ardmore, and state Rep. Toni Hasenbeck, R-Elgin, have filed legislation to give home-Internet access subscribers and cellular-data-plan subscribers the ability to block access to porn sites.

RINO Labor Commissioner Osborn touts transgenderism, abortion

LABOR COMMISSIONER OSBORN TOUTS TRANSGENDERISM, ABORTION
Ray Carter | January 12, 2024

A Republican women’s organization is calling on Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Leslie Osborn to switch parties and officially become a Democrat due to Osborn’s participation in a group that touts transgenderism and abortion to youth.

For several years, Osborn has openly opposed the policy goals of Republicans on everything from tax cuts to protecting children, and she has even called on voters to oust Republican lawmakers.

In a recent press release regarding Osborn’s activities, members of the Oklahoma City Republican Women’s Club declared, “We are asking her to change her party affiliation as her current actions and apparent values to the protection of children and families are contrary to the principles of the Republican Party.”

Until recently, Osborn was a member of, and one of six officers on, the board of directors for Honestly, an Oklahoma City organization focused on “youth sexual health.”

The organization’s website declares that a “lot of young people have sex” and that in Oklahoma County “it happens a lot sooner than you’d think.” The group’s website does not appear to include any material that encourages children and teens to delay sexual activity until the age of maturity.

Senate approves bill to organize books into age-appropriate categories

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 7th) – The full Senate has approved a bill to require school and public libraries to place books into sections labeled elementary, junior high, Under 16 or juniors and seniors.  Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain, is the author of Senate Bill 397, which was approved by the Senate on Tuesday.

“There is a time and place for conversations about certain subjects, but some of those topics are not suitable for students to be reading about in school,” Hamilton said. “This bill will further efforts to protect children in Oklahoma by only allowing them to access books from libraries that are appropriate for their age.”

State Sen. Hamilton proposes legislation to rate books in public schools and libraries

Hamilton proposes legislation to rate books in public schools and libraries

OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 2nd) – Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain, has requested a bill that would establish a system to rate books rather than ban them in public schools and libraries. The system follows the standard movie ratings of G, PG, PG-13, R and NC-17.

The ratings are designed to give parents a better understanding of the materials their children are reading and allow them to provide parental guidance when necessary. Hamilton said the ultimate goal is to protect young children from inappropriate reading material and give parents peace of mind that their kids cannot access adult content in safe spaces like schools and libraries.

Faithful Christians should not vote for Liberal Leslie Osborn

No Christian in good conscience should ever vote for "Republican" Labor Commissioner Leslie Osborn. Before I explain why, let me cover a few things.

I'm a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican -- in that order. While I am a conservative's conservative, as longtime readers of my blog know well, it is my faith first and foremost that informs and directs my politics. I make no apologies for that.

Small: “Woke” trend not inevitable in Oklahoma schools

“Woke” trend not inevitable in Oklahoma schools
By Jonathan Small

National and state headlines may lead Oklahoma parents to fear “woke” indoctrination in public schools is inevitable and cannot be stopped. That’s not the case.

Indeed, actions taken in recent years are already bearing fruit.

A 2021 law, HB 1775, banned classroom instruction or staff training that advocates that “an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously.” Thanks to that law, State Board of Education was recently able to penalize both Tulsa Public Schools and the Mustang district for violating the anti-Critical Race Theory law.

State Rep. Humphrey responds to Democrats' call for gun control

Humphrey Responds to Democrats' Call to Repeal Gun Laws

OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Justin Humphrey, R-Lane, this week responded to House Democrats who are calling for what they say are responsible public-safety measures by introducing a proposal labeled the Stand Against Violence and Extremism (SAVE) Act. The SAVE Act would repeal existing laws deregulating gun use in Oklahoma and would institute other measures aimed at stopping gun violence.

"The SAVE Act is a completely counterfeit way of robbing all law-abiding Oklahomans of their Second Amendment rights and would increase gun regulations and requirements," Humphrey said. "The SAVE Act would profoundly abandon our existing constitutional rights and strives to repeal anti-red flag laws, permits and concealed carry in public places. Not only do Democrats desire to repeal your rights, but they are on a mission to adopt red flag laws, increase your waiting period for purchasing a firearm and increase the minimum age to purchases a firearm."

Piper blasts NAIA, OKWU withdraws from championship after meet moved from NC

by Everett Piper, OKWU President, September 26, 2016

On September 26, the Council of Presidents for National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) disregarded a nearly unanimous recommendation of its board of commissioners and athletic directors and voted 11-9 to remove their national cross country championships from the state of North Carolina. The reason? North Carolina’s “HB2 legislation creates an atmosphere where discrimination potentially exists for some NAIA student-athletes and personnel.” In other words, these university presidents believe the Tar Heel state should be punished for defending a woman’s right to have her own bathroom.

Have these people lost all sense of academic integrity? Have they lost their minds?

At the risk of stating the obvious, there is a reason we don’t just tell young women who want to play intercollegiate sports that they are welcome to do so, as long as they avail themselves of the men’s teams. There’s a reason we don’t just tell co-eds to go ahead and try out for the basketball, soccer, or baseball teams, but that we have no intention of spending the university’s time or money to provide separate coaches, facilities, and programs for them. If we were to be so callous, we would rightly be accused of being insensitive, unfair, and fully out of compliance with a federal law known as Title IX.

Title IX was enacted in 1972, primarily for the purpose of giving women equal access to the athletic field. Since its passage, programs and facilities have been made available to women in direct proportion to men at nearly all of our nation’s colleges and universities. As the result, women have enjoyed nearly a 500 percent increase in athletic participation nationwide over the past forty plus years.

But today, my NAIA peers—in their sagely wisdom—seem determined to reject the very premise of Title IX that requires colleges and universities to differentiate the female student from the male student and to, thereby, give women the same access to programs as men. If we didn’t “discriminate” in such a way, how in the world would it be possible to ever comply with Title IX?!

Surely even those not holding advanced degrees can understand this. A female is a biological reality and the distinction between the woman and her male counterpart is quite real. Failing to admit this difference is to pretend that a woman doesn’t even exist. Women are not merely a social construct. They are not make-believe. They are more than the delusional feelings of dysphoric males. They are scientific facts and women’s rights become meaningless if the female is not real and is, instead, nothing but a politically correct fabrication of higher education’s arrogant elites.

I don’t know what my peers were taught in their junior high biology classes, and I certainly have no idea what they are teaching today on their respective campuses, but at Oklahoma Wesleyan, we still believe in science. We, therefore, teach that male and female physiology is an objective reality and that there is little more empirically obvious than one’s sex.

Shocking as it may sound to my presidential peers, Oklahoma Wesleyan University actually agrees with the state of North Carolina. We, too, think that women should be granted the privacy of having their own toilets. We believe female students should be respected and not insulted, demeaned, and ignored. We stand with women in their fight against the arrogance of college presidents and the delusions of the male libido. Women attending our university will not only have their own basketball and soccer teams, but they, likewise, will have their own restrooms, showers, dorms, sports, scholarships and programs. Women at this university will have their identity and their privacy acknowledged and respected.

Oklahoma Wesleyan University (and dare I presume to speak for tens of thousands of other Oklahomans) proudly stands with the state of North Carolina. We thank its governor for defending the dignity of women and we join with tens millions nationwide in saying shame on the NAIA’s Council of Presidents for their mindless misogyny and for not having the moral clarity and intellectual courage to defend the rights of our female students.

Dr. Everett Piper is President of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, which has achieved numerous NAIA athletic accolades including conference, regional and national championships.

September 28, 2016, Bartlesville, OK  – Dr. Everett Piper, president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, announced today that OKWU will not participate in this year’s NAIA cross country championship unless it is returned to the state of North Carolina.  Piper’s statement is in response to the decision made Monday by the NAIA Council of Presidents to pull the national meet out of North Carolina because of the state’s so called “bathroom bill”, which specifies that men and women should use the restrooms appropriate to their biological sex.

“How can the NAIA claim to be an organization that ‘champions character’ if its leadership so eagerly breaks its word and its contract with the state of North Carolina?” questioned Dr. Piper. “And how can we claim to be an organization that supports women if our leadership is so willing to deny female athletes the right to have their own bathrooms, showers, toilet, and lavatory? The NAIA’s disregard for such basic rights is sobering.”

In the University’s tenure as an NAIA school, Oklahoma Wesleyan has achieved numerous NAIA athletic accolades, including conference, regional and national championships.

Horowitz: Fallin named co-chair of RNC Platform Committee as reward for betrayal

Liberal Mary Fallin Appointed Co-Chair of RNC Platform Committee

Here is an anecdote that perfectly exemplifies the state of play within the modern day Republican Party.

Oklahoma is easily among the most conservative states, if not THE most conservative state, in the country.  Yet, because we live under a political oligarchy, the most conservative state cannot even stop the most extreme leftist concepts, namely, that men are women too.

As soon as Obama promulgated his transgender mandate earlier this month, the Oklahoma legislature jumped into action to block the illegal edict.  The bathroom safety bill, SB 1619, was originally sponsored by the Senate pro temp and the House speaker.  Suddenly, the Chamber of (Crony) Commerce came out against the bill, and Speaker Jeffrey Hickman took his name off it.  According to local grassroots activists, Gov. Mary Fallin, who has not uttered a word in defense of state’s rights against Obama’s absurd and immoral decree, has ensured that state party leaders backed off the bill.  With just three days left until the end of the session, the bill is now stalled.

This betrayal follows on the heels of Gov. Fallin vetoing the most sweeping pro-life bill to pass a state legislature in years.  Thanks to Fallin’s veto, Oklahoma will get its first abortion clinic next month since 1974.  Thus, we have a state where every state-wide and federally elected official is a Republican, every county voted against Obama, Republicans have a 4-1 majority in the Senate and super majority in the House, yet they can’t stand for life or for a man being a man!

In what is unlikely a coincidence, Gov. Fallin was rewarded for her perfidy by being chosen as a co-chair of the RNC Platform Committee at the convention in Cleveland!

Could you imagine Democrats choosing a governor who had just vetoed a gay privileges bill or a gun control bill being selected to co-chair their committee drafting the party platform?  Could you imagine a Democrat governor of any sort in a deep blue state vetoing liberal legislation on critical issues at all?  Yet, in the Republican Party, bucking the party platform in a resume enhancer…enough to elevate you to drafting the party platform!  In the case of Gov. Fallin, she badly wants to be considered as Trump’s running mate.  Hence, she has tossed social issues under the bus (not that recognizing men as men and women as women is a social issue).

Therein lies the imbalance between the parties.  Our problems run much deeper than the betrayal on the federal level.  We don’t even have conservative leadership among the ranks of Republicans in the states where Democrats are completely marginalized.  Republicans control the trifecta of the legislatures and governorships in 23 states, many of them with super majorities in the legislatures, yet North Carolina is the only state that has successfully stood up against a gender-bender agenda that was considered extreme even for Democrats just a few years ago.

This is why the question of whether to vote for Trump or not misses the point.  Whatever you personally decide to do, if conservatives fail to unite behind broader strategies to either take back the Republican Party or chart the path to a third party, the two liberal parties will stifle conservative ideas in all 50 states.
