Bice endorsed by prominent OK Ag leaders

Oklahoma Agriculture Leaders Endorse Stephanie Bice for Congress

OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 11, 2020) – Stephanie Bice, Republican candidate for Congress in Oklahoma’s 5th district, is proud to announce the endorsement of leaders from across Oklahoma’s farm and ranch community.

“My colleagues and I are proud to endorse Stephanie Bice to be the next Congresswoman for the fifth district. We’re disgusted by the attacks against Stephanie in this race from Never-Trumper group Club for Growth,” said Mike Schultz, farmer and former President Pro Tempore of the Oklahoma State Senate.

“This same organization lobbied hard against farmers and ranchers to defeat the Farm Bill. They’re no friend to the farming and ranching community in our state and we can’t let them buy this race for Stephanie’s opponent.”

“In her time in the State Senate, Stephanie has been a strong advocate for agriculture in Oklahoma and we know she will be a great representative for farmers, ranchers and manufacturers in Congress,” he said.

The list of farmers and ranchers in Oklahoma who support Stephanie Bice for Congress includes:

  • Jarold Callahan, President Express Ranches
  • Bob Funk, Co-Founder and President of Express Employment Professionals
  • Randy Gilbert, Gilbert Cattle Company/Gilbert & Sons Trucking
  • Suzanne Gilbert, Crossing Hearts Ranch and 2019 Oklahoma Agriculture Woman of the Year
  • Bray Haven, Vice President of Operations, Oklahoma Youth Expo
  • Senator Brent Howard
  • Bob Howard, Jackson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors
  • Michael Kelsey, Former President of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association
  • Tyler Norvell, Executive Director, Oklahoma Youth Expo
  • Harvey Schroeder, Executive Director, Oklahoma Cotton Council
  • Jack Sherry, President, Hughes County Farm Bureau

“We are honored to have the endorsement of this great group of Oklahoma leaders in farming and ranching,” Bice said. “These community leaders are relentless advocates for agriculture in our state. When it comes to our farmers and ranchers, they understand that we can never put politics before people. I’ll continue my support of Oklahoma’s agriculture industry in Congress, the same as I’ve done in the Senate. “

“Club for Growth called the Farm Bill ‘socialism with a Republican seal of approval on it.’ They called it ‘bloated’ and said passing it was ‘paying tribute to special interests.’ Farmers and ranchers aren’t special interests, they are the backbone of this country and Oklahoma’s economy. I will be the representative that will stand up for them in Congress.”

Since launching her campaign, Stephanie has established herself as one of the strongest House candidates in the country. National political forecasters have ranked the 5th congressional district one of the most competitive races in 2020.

Stephanie has a record of winning tough elections. She won in 2014 after a runoff election in Senate District 22, and then was re-elected by the largest number of votes in an election by an Oklahoma legislator in 2018.
