The disrupter we need in OKC: SD2 candidate Jarrin Jackson

One of the most competitive runoff elections coming up is in State Senate District 2, which covers the Claremore/Collinsville/Catoosa area, where Jarrin Jackson is facing off in this open seat against Ally Seifried. Seifried is the establishment pick, with hundreds of thousands of dollars in dark money flowing in on her behalf. Jackson, a West Point grad and retired Army Ranger, is an unabashed - and vocal - conservative.

I caught up with Jarrin Jackson earlier this week to talk about his candidacy.

Jesus hates Social Justice

"Jesus hates Social Justice."

To some, that's a provocative statement. Oklahoma combat veteran and political/cultural commentator Jarrin Jackson makes the argument that it's a 100% Biblical certainty in a recent video.

Watch here:

He's absolutely right.

The Statement on Social Justice and the Gospel was drafted in 2018 by prominent evangelical pastors and leaders, including John MacArthur, Voddie Baucham, Phil Johnson, Tom Ascol, Darrell Harrison, Tom Buck, James White, Paul Washer, and others. The signers made the following introduction to the document, also called the Dallas Statement:
In view of questionable sociological, psychological, and political theories presently permeating our culture and making inroads into Christ's church, we wish to clarify certain key Christian doctrines and ethical principles prescribed in God’s Word. Clarity on these issues will fortify believers and churches to withstand an onslaught of dangerous and false teachings that threaten the gospel, misrepresent Scripture, and lead people away from the grace of God in Jesus Christ.

Specifically, we are deeply concerned that values borrowed from secular culture are currently undermining Scripture in the areas of race and ethnicity, manhood and womanhood, and human sexuality. The Bible’s teaching on each of these subjects is being challenged under the broad and somewhat nebulous rubric of concern for “social justice.” If the doctrines of God’s Word are not uncompromisingly reasserted and defended at these points, there is every reason to anticipate that these dangerous ideas and corrupted moral values will spread their influence into other realms of biblical doctrines and principles.

We submit these affirmations and denials for public consideration, not with any pretense of ecclesiastical authority, but with an urgency that is mixed with deep joy and sincere sorrow. The rapidity with which these deadly ideas have spread from the culture at large into churches and Christian organizations—including some that are evangelical and Reformed—necessitates the issuing of this statement now.

In the process of considering these matters we have been reminded of the essentials of the faith once for all handed down to the saints, and we are re-committed to contend for it. We have a great Lord and Savior, and it is a privilege to defend his gospel, regardless of cost or consequences. Nevertheless, while we rejoice in that privilege, we grieve that in doing so we know we are taking a stand against the positions of some teachers whom we have long regarded as faithful and trustworthy spiritual guides. It is our earnest prayer that our brothers and sisters will stand firm on the gospel and avoid being blown to and fro by every cultural trend that seeks to move the Church of Christ off course. We must remain steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.

The Apostle Paul’s warning to the Colossians is greatly needed today: “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ” (Colossians 2:8). The document that follows is an attempt to heed that apostolic command. We invite others who share our concerns and convictions to unite with us in reasserting our unwavering commitment to the teachings of God’s Word articulated in this statement. Therefore, for the glory of God among his Church and throughout society, we offer the following affirmations and denials.
The Statement has fourteen articles of affirmations and denials, which you can read here (also in PDF here).

BREAKING: OK Young Republican Convention breaks down in chaos, parking lot conclusion

I'm still gathering the details, but the Oklahoma Young Republicans State Convention went through chaos and mayhem, ending up with a conclusion in the parking lot after the liberal faction vacated the convention.

Here's video of the convention outside, after the liberal wing of the YRs left, courtesy of Jarrin Jackson:

I'll update with more details as I find them.

UPDATE: click here to read comments from Luke Harshaw, the new chairman elected by the delegates who remained at the convention.

Jarrin Jackson for Congress

When it comes to electing our public officials, integrity is vitally important. When an elected official says they will do something, we need to be able to trust that they will keep their word. In the 2nd Congressional District race, we now face a crisis of integrity.

When Congressman Mullin first ran in 2012, he repeatedly pledged to the voters that he would only serve three terms. Now, he brazenly breaks his word and is seeking a fourth term in Congress. Mullin has apparently decided that the allure of power is too much to give up.

A remorseless pledge-breaker, Markwayne Mullin is the consummate politician, deceptively saying one thing, then doing the opposite when voters turn around. Voters should reward that dishonesty and lack of integrity by booting him from office in the June 26th primary. They should replace him with a person of virtue and character who has demonstrated true honor and integrity.

Mullin has drawn three challengers: Brian Jackson, Jarrin Jackson, and John McCarthy. McCarthy is not a serious candidate, running previously as an Independent on the platform of curing cancer.

I grew up attending the same church as Brian Jackson. He is a great man with a great family, and would make an infinite improvement over Markwayne Mullin; however, he was not able to wage a viable campaign against Mullin. That leaves Jarrin Jackson - who is no relation to Brian.

Dr. Tom Coburn has strongly endorsed Jarrin Jackson for Congress. Jackson is a former Army captain, a West Point graduate and Army Ranger with two Bronze Stars earned on tours in Afghanistan. He's a conservative who will make us proud.

From securing our borders to ending funding for Planned Parenthood, killing ObamaCare and attacking the national debt and overspending, Jarrin Jackson will pose a stark contrast to Markwayne Mullin's go-with-the-establishment pattern.

Jarrin Jackson knows a thing or two about giving and keeping his word. He gave an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" -- and he's kept his pledge.

Honesty and integrity are important. On Tuesday, Republican voters have the opportunity to choose from two candidates: one who keeps his word, and one who won't. I hope that you will join me in voting for the integrity candidate, combat veteran Jarrin Jackson.

Sign: Anyone but...

We're three weeks out from primary day, and how do Republican voters in the 2nd Congressional District feel about incumbent Congressman Markwayne Mullin?

This homemade sign, which I recently saw at a Republican voter's house in Muskogee, might give a glimpse.

A remorseless pledge-breaker, Markwayne Mullin is the consummate politician, deceptively saying one thing, then doing the opposite when voters turn around. Voters should reward that dishonesty and lack of integrity by booting him from office in the June 26th primary. They should replace him with a person of virtue and character who has demonstrated true honor and integrity (I recommend Jarrin Jackson).

The Deception of Markwayne Mullin

Markwayne Mullin seems to have a problem with honesty.

Today marks eleven months since the FEC caught Congressman Markwayne Mullin raising funds and making expenditures for a 2018 reelection campaign without filing the paperwork declaring his candidacy. The next day, Mullin officially filed the paperwork declaring his candidacy for a fourth term in Congress, thus breaking his oft-repeated pledge to only seek three terms in office.

Almost three weeks went by before I caught the move, but when I published my post, some media outlets picked it up and prompted some reaction from Mullin and his campaign. A couple days later, Mullin went on air with Tulsa talk radio host Pat Campbell and said that "we're still praying about it [running for a 4th term]", and that he was "not even close to made up our minds".

Throughout the interview, he made numerous comments that filing the statement of candidacy was not a declaration of candidacy, but that it was merely routine paperwork filed so that he could be involved with NRCC activities, and that he had not decided whether he would run or not.

However, two days after my first post, and two days before his interview with Campbell, Mullin's campaign made some expenditures that seem to counter Mullin's comments to the contrary.

In the months between his 2016 re-election and his 2018 statement of candidacy filing, most of Mullin's campaign spending dealt with consultant retainers, fundraising expenses, staff salaries, and miscellaneous office expenses. There were some notable exceptions.
  • January 25th, 2017: $24,500.00 for polling
  • February 27th, 2017: $3,850 for redesigning his website. An Internet Archive capture of MullinForCongress.com shows that between February 2nd, 2017, and March 14th, 2017, Mullin's campaign website underwent a major overhaul -- which included moving in a new Donate section to a prominent spot on the front page, with the phrase "Support the Team Mullin re-election campaign by contributing today." According to Mullin's interview with Pat Campbell on April 19th, there was no re-election campaign because he hadn't decided yet.
  • April 17th, 2017 (two days before his KFAQ interview): a $15,000 payment to Peak Enterprises, Inc., for Digital Media Consulting/Advertising. From what I've been able to find, this is the first time Mullin's campaign used this company for any work, indicating that this likely went beyond simply maintaining his existing 2016 campaign on a "holding pattern" until his decision was made regarding a fourth campaign.
Mullin's campaign would probably argue that some of the other expenditures were for keeping his infrastructure in place awaiting his final decision on a 2018 campaign, but the above items seem to indicate that was not the case, and that Mullin's public posturing was simply an effort to obscure an anticipated campaign rollout.

What seems to be more likely is that Markwayne Mullin had already planned to break his term limits pledge and run for a fourth term, but the FEC warning letter and subsequent attention messed up the timeline for his announcement. Mullin's campaign spending indicates that the decision to run had already been made, despite his comments to the contrary on KFAQ with Pat Campbell.

Mullin released a video ad on July 4th, 2017, where he announced that he would be breaking his term limits pledge.

Oklahoma has had other members of Congress make term limits pledges. Tom Coburn, J.C. Watts, and Jim Bridenstine made three-term pledges in the House, in addition to Markwayne Mullin. Steve Largent made a six-term pledge, but only ran for four. Coburn again made a two-term pledge in the Senate, resigning before completing his final term.

Until Markwayne Mullin, J.C. Watts was the only member to break his term limits pledge. He has since publicly said that breaking his pledge was his biggest regret from his time in office. At a 2010 speech to the Muskogee County Republican Party, Watts said that he had made a pledge before God and to his constituents, and when he broke it that fourth term became his worst time in office politically and with his family.

In a 2010 interview with National Review, Watts had this to say: “I saw people come into Washington thinking it was a cesspool and after being there for two months, thinking it was a jacuzzi. Regardless of what arena you’re in, the cheer of the crowd can be so seductive.” He also said, “I am an adamant supporter of term limits, and I recognize you get the good with the bad if you adopt term limits, but I say let’s start down that track and protect all of us as elected officials from ourselves, because the cheer of the crowd is just too intoxicating.”

Markwayne Mullin had been seduced by the cheer of the crowd -- and the pull of power.

In 2012, Markwayne Mullin made a pledge, a vow to the people of Oklahoma. that he would only run for three terms. He repeatedly confirmed that promise, and campaigned on it across the entire 2nd Congressional District. He signed it, put his name to it.

Mullin likes to say that he's "A Businessman, Not A Politician." I doubt as a businessman that he signs a contract, and then goes back and breaks it. You don't make it in business if you're a crook who won't keep his word.

Markwayne Mullin is the consummate politician, deceptively saying one thing, then doing the opposite. Voters should reward that dishonesty and lack of integrity by booting him from office in the June 26th primary. They should replace him with a person of virtue and character who has demonstrated true honor and integrity (I have a recommendation).

Jarrin Jackson continues 2nd District campaign town halls

Congressional Candidate, Businessman, and US Army Combat Veteran Jarrin Jackson to Continue his 26 County "Let’s Talk” Town Hall Series

Republican Jarrin Jackson continues his 26-County tour through Eastern Oklahoma’s 2nd District with his “Let’s Talk” Town Halls taking place in 5 more locations this Saturday, March 3, 2018.

Jarrin Jackson states, “I am taking the time to visit with Oklahoma's District 2 voters face to face. Voters should expect their Representative to look them in the eye and have a real back and forth dialogue that is not scripted or screened, to truly hold their Congressman accountable. I am committed to be accountable to the people I will represent, and these meetings allow voters to give clear directives on the important priorities to be addressed. I am hearing loud and clear President Trump’s agenda should be delivered. Eastern Oklahoma deserves to have a Congressman who truly takes their needs and priorities to Washington, not a Congressman that hides behind phone call screeners because he is on the payroll of special interest to bring Washington Swamp talking points and bureaucracy to Oklahoma.”

Jarrin Jackson is already endorsed by former US Senator, Dr. Tom Coburn.

In a recent statement, Dr. Coburn said he is backing Jarrin Jackson’s candidacy because, “Who we send to Congress is really important. Jarrin Jackson has shown his character by already doing a tremendous amount in service to our country. He is a combat veteran, a West Point graduate, a leader…Jarrin Jackson has virtue - and has shown from his service in the military, serving veterans and working in his community, and growing his restaurant franchise business - he holds himself to a high standard and commitment to doing what is right for our communities, for our state, and for our nation.  Jarrin Jackson is a patriot and a warrior, and is not going to abuse your trust. Because he has virtue.”

A graduate of West Point, Jarrin Jackson is a decorated combat veteran who served as a Captain in the US Army in Afghanistan. After over a decade of military service, Jarrin Jackson has gone on to success in the private sector -  owning and operating franchise restaurants, and also works to find jobs for transitioning active duty members to secure their first civilian job as they reintegrate into private sector. Jarrin is married to Dr. Katie Jackson, and they live in Rogers County with their two children. The Republican primary election for Congress is June 26th.

The incumbent Congressman Mullin is also currently being outed as a pro-pork politician in ads by the fiscally conservative Club for Growth, highlighting Mullin's support of bringing back earmarks just as our nation is working to pay off the current crippling debt, and going back on his promise to serve three terms to avoid being a career politician.

In a recent statement, Dr. Coburn said he is backing Jarrin Jackson’s candidacy because, “Who we send to Congress is really important...Jarrin Jackson has virtue. He has shown his character by already doing a tremendous amount in service to our country. He is a combat veteran, a West Point graduate, a leader."

Coburn continues, "People are worried about our country - it isn't just one thing that is wrong, but there are many challenges that have developed to feeling insurmountable because many who hold office don't have the character trait of virtue - the firmness of purpose and courage to carry out high standards, no matter the cost. Jarrin Jackson has virtue - and has shown from his service in the military, serving veterans and working in his community, and growing his restaurant franchise business - he holds himself to a high standard and commitment to doing what is right for our communities, for our state, and for our nation.  Jarrin Jackson is a patriot and a warrior, and is not going to abuse your trust. Coburn: Jarrin Jackson is a leader of virtue

Former U.S. Senator Tom Coburn recently spoke at an event in Muskogee for 2nd Congressional District candidate Jarrin Jackson, where he made the comments below in support of Jackson's challenge of incumbent Congressman Markwayne Mullin.

Coburn endorsed Jarrin Jackson's 2016 bid, and reacted strongly to Mullin's announcement that he would be breaking his term limits pledge. In radio interviews since then, he's reiterated his support for Jarrin Jackson.

Back in September, I referenced Mullin's actions as one of many examples in my post entitled The Death of Honor in the GOP. Coburn touched a similar strain of thought in the video above, when he said that "[T]he real problem with our country is virtue... The way we solve our problems is have men and women of virtue in leadership positions."

In addition to Jarrin Jackson, Mullin has drawn two other Republican opponents so far: NSU economics professor Brian Jackson (no relation to Jarrin) and cure-cancer-activist John McCarthy (has loaned his campaign $113k).

The 2018 2nd District GOP primary will be one to watch.

Jarrin Jackson will challenge Mullin again in 2018

Jarrin Jackson, former Army Ranger, has announced that he will again challenge 2nd District Congressman Markwayne Mullin in the 2018 GOP primary.

Jackson (no relation to Brian Jackson, also running against Mullin) received 36.6% of the vote in the 2016 GOP primary against Mullin, and was outspent about $1M to $155K by Mullin.

Primary Results: despite historic amount of candidates, few upsets

Votes are still being counted in from the primary election, but things have shaped up enough (or finished in some races) to see the final results. Despite a historic amount of candidates, there have been few upsets.

All five incumbent congressmen defeated their primary challengers. The closest race was in the 2nd District, where Markwayne Mullin leads Jarrin Jackson 63.3% to 36.7%.

So far, Jim Bridenstine received the highest total at 81.94%, despite having two opponents (Lucas, Mullin and Russell each had only one), and despite Tom Atkinson spending nearly as much or even more than Bridenstine did. In contrast, Mullin outspent Jackson at least 10-1 in his much smaller victory.

Finishing out the congressional primaries, Lucas got 78.3%, Cole got 71.5%, and Russell currently has 80.95%. On the Democratic side, Joshua Harris-Till is the 2nd District nominee, Christina Owen is the 4th District nominee, and former nominees Tom Guild and Al McAffrey are in a runoff in the 5th District (no candidate received more than 38% of the vote in that primary).

Of interest to Muskogee County, Dewayne Pemberton (R) and Jack Reavis (D) defeated their opponents in the Senate District 9 primaries. In House District 13, Avery Frix won a three-way GOP primary, and will face Democrat Wayne Herriman. Incumbent sheriff Charles Pearson lost the Democratic primary to Rob Frazier 52.62% to 47.38%; Frazier will face Republican Roger Posey in November.

The only incumbent state senator to be losing is Republican Corey Brooks (SD43), who is trailing with 48.08% and 49 of 54 precincts reporting.

There was slightly more drama in the state house, but still not much as far as upsets go, given how many contested primaries there were this time.

State Rep. Dennis Johnson (R-HD50) lost his reelection bid to Marcus McEntire 57.22% to 42.78%. Rep. Ken Walker (R-HD70) is currently losing with 46.21%, but only 13 of 22 precincts have reported. Rep. Charles Ortega (R-HD52) won with 50.9%. Rep. Donnie Condit (D-HD18) won with 50.51%. All other races with incumbents were won with large margins.

G.T. Bynum is beating Dewey Bartlett for Tulsa mayor 56.17% to 38.07% (148 of 185 precincts reporting).

Endorsement: Jarrin Jackson for Congress

When it comes to electing our public officials, integrity is important. When an elected official says they will do something, we need to be able to trust that they will keep their word. In the 2nd Congressional District race, we now face a crisis of integrity.

When Congressman Mullin first ran in 2012, he made a pledge to the voters that he would only serve three terms. Now that he is seeking his third term in Congress, Mullin has decided that the allure of power is too much to give up. He refuses to say he will keep his term limits pledge, because he's already made up his mind to break it.

That's why conservative leaders like Dr. Tom Coburn and Rep. George Faught have strongly endorsed Jarrin Jackson for Congress. Jackson is a former Army captain, a West Point graduate and Army Ranger with two Bronze Stars earned on tours in Afghanistan. He's a conservative who will make us proud.

InsideSources Poll Shows Mullin, Jackson in Close Race

Exclusive InsideSources Poll Shows Mullin, Jackson in Close Race
Mullin up 11, but “Informed Ballot” has Jackson leading by 6 points

Oklahoma Congressman Markwayne Mullin should have been set for an easy reelection campaign, but an exclusive poll conducted by InsideSources shows the race is unexpectedly tight leading into Tuesday’s primary.  Moreover, the more voters know about each candidate, the worse it is for Rep. Mullin.

“We found that the more likely voters found out about Rep. Mullin and Mr. Jackson, the more they tended to support the challenger, Mr. Jackson,” InsideSources publisher Shawn McCoy said.  “Now it’s just a matter of whether Mr. Jackson has the time and resources to inform the voters.”

Mullin, a two-term Republican incumbent, is facing a primary challenge from Jarrin Jackson, a combat veteran who recently won the endorsement of Tom Coburn, the popular former senator. Mullin has also recently drawn strong criticism from conservative groups aligned against legislation he’s proposed to bring federal regulation to Mixed Martial Arts competition. In a conservative House district, these challenges from his right have left Mullin on shaky ground.

Our exclusive poll found Mullin leading Jackson 51.7 percent to 40.2 percent, with 8 percent undecided in initial polling.

However, InsideSources asked a series of follow-up questions about candidate biographies and the attacks being lodged by conservatives opposing Mullin. Mullin has been mute in criticizing his lesser-known opponent, so attacks on Jackson were not included. In this test, known as an “educated ballot,” which is intended to simulate how voters may react to what they hear in the media and from other voters leading up to the primary, Jackson was catapulted to a lead of 45.8 percent to 39.6 percent, with 14.6 percent unsure of how they will vote.

The educated ballot test does not mean Jackson has the momentum to win. As is often the case with primary challengers running against incumbents, Jackson may not have the resources to reach voters with his message. Jackson has raised and spent a small fraction of Mullin’s war chest. According to the most recent filings to the Federal Election Commission, Mullin spent over $300,000 in the two-month period ahead of the primary. Jackson has spent less than $50,000.

While Senators Jim Inhofe and James Lankford have both endorsed Mullin for reelection, the surprise endorsement from Coburn seems to be in response to Mullin walking back a pledge he made in 2012 to run for no more than three terms in the House.

InsideSources told survey respondents about the endorsements, and read language to voters similar to what is found on each campaign’s website about candidate biographies and issue positions. Hearing positive biographical notes on Mullin made 64.7 percent of likely primary voters say they would be more apt to support him, while 58.4 percent found themselves more likely to support Jackson based on the lesser-known opponent’s military service and policy goals.

Voters were told of major conservative criticisms of Mullin, including his support for the Export-Import Bank, which critics argue supports corporate welfare for large companies. Respondents were also told Mullin is facing an ethics investigation for earning too much income outside Congress, and his business received hundreds of thousands of dollars in Obama Stimulus funding. Nearly 50 percent of likely voters said hearing this made them less likely to support Mullin. Conservative groups, including Heritage Action, have in the past made calls to voters in the district critical of Mullin on some of these points.

The InsideSources poll of 521 registered Republican voters in Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District was conducted June 20-22, and has a margin of error of +/-10% after applying a likely voter screen and demographic weighting.  Data was gathered via interactive voice response (IVR) calls. Out of 1,622 partial responses, 521 complete responses were gathered. Poll analysis was conducted by Praecones Analytica. InsideSources will be tracking races nationwide ahead of November’s elections.

Coburn talks Jackson, Bartlett, Bridenstine endorsements with Pat Campbell

Tulsa talk radio host Pat Campbell had former senator Tom Coburn on his program this morning to discuss Coburn's endorsements of Jarrin Jackson (2nd District), Dewey Bartlett (Tulsa mayor) and Jim Bridenstine (1st District).

The interview begins with the 2nd District race, and Coburn's reasoning on why he came out against incumbent Markwayne Mullin and supports his challenger, Jarrin Jackson.

Regarding Mullin, Coburn said, "Integrity is the only thing that really counts in politics. and when you tell somebody, you make a commitment to somebody that you're going to do something, and then you start wavering on that commitment, you have no standing with me at all after that." Coburn called Mullin after news broke that he was wavering on his term limits pledge, and Mullin still refused to say he would keep his pledge. In the interview, Coburn goes on to say "[Markwayne Mullin] doesn't have the integrity to keep his word, and to me that's the most important thing."

On Jarrin Jackson, Coburn said "He'll be another Jim Bridenstine if he's elected."

Campbell and Coburn talked about the Tulsa mayoral race. Coburn endorsed Dewey Bartlett in his first race, and supports him for reelection. Coburn appreciates Bartlett's business background and desire to serve Tulsa without making a career in politics. He went on to say "The criticisms I've heard of Dewey are minor in comparison to the risks of having some young guy with really no real world experience except politics - I mean, that's all there is, there's nothing there except politics - being the mayor of Tulsa."

When the conversation moved to the 1st District race, Coburn said "Bridenstine was the easiest endorsement I've ever done in my life. He votes right. Every time. I don't have to worry about how Jim Bridenstine votes, because he's going to look at the Constitution, he's going to look at limited government, he's going to vote that way. Every time, no matter what the rest of the Oklahoma delegation does."

BOOM: Coburn endorses Jarrin Jackson over Mullin

Dr. Tom Coburn Endorses Jarrin Jackson for U.S. Congress, OK-District 2
Says Jackson will stand up for us in Washington

May 31, 2016 (Oologah, OK) – Today, former U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn announced his endorsement of combat veteran Jarrin Jackson who is challenging Congressman Markwayne Mullin in Oklahoma's second district.

Dr. Coburn, who had endorsed Mullin in 2012, said, “I am proud to endorse Jarrin Jackson,  a combat veteran who understands and has fought for our Constitution. He will stand up for us in Washington and not go along to get along. He also will honor a six year self imposed term limit.”

Coburn's endorsement comes on the heel of recent comments Rep. Mullin made about a similar term limit pledge he made in 2012. Then, when running as a first-time candidate, Mullin pledged to serve no more than three two year terms in Congress. However, when asked recently if this would be the last time he ran for the office, Mullin said he is seeking the Lord's guidance and will instead do what he thinks is best for his family and District.

“Dr. Coburn's endorsement is important,” Jackson said, “because it reinforces his reputation for integrity and courage. He not only served us with honor when he held office, but he continues to serve by insisting that other public officials do the same. It takes courage to speak truth to power, no matter the truth, no matter the power. I welcome his support, his example, and the opportunity to build upon his work.”

Madison Project PAC endorses Jarrin Jackson

The Madison Project endorses Jarrin Jackson in OK-2
Monday, May 23rd, 2016

This is why we exist as a PAC-to shake up the status quo. Years ago, we committed to systematically working through each deeply red district or state to find Members of Congress whose voting record does not match up to their districts and work to replace them with a Member who will be just as conservative as their district.

This mentality is what lead us to launch the Madison Performance Index (MPI) in 2013. When we asked the simple question, “Is this Member voting in line with his or her district?” there was no simple answer. Now there is and when we looked at the make up of Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District it became apparent that the current Member, Markwayne Mullin, was nowhere near voting in line with a district that is R+20, scoring -27.5 on the MPI. He is seemingly more interested in doing the bidding of the Establishment leadership than representing his district and advancing conservatism.

Which is why today we are thrilled to get the opportunity to endorse Jarrin Jackson in his run to unseat Congressman Mullin and work towards electing a truly conservative Member is this strong Republican district.

A 5th generation Oklahoman and graduate of West Point, Jarrin is the veteran of two tours in Afghanistan, serving as a platoon and company commander. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he has turned his attention towards serving his country in another role and that is getting our country back on track. When he announced his run for Congress late last fall, Jarrin said:
“This is a time for triage and intervention, not maintenance. Our country is getting sicker, and our enemies are using our goodness against us. We need to counter that. I am conservative, but I want to be judged by performance, not labels. I offer American values, fresh ideas, and military grade grit.”
We couldn’t agree more and today, we are excited to support Jarrin in his run for Congress.

Rep. George Faught Endorses Jarrin Jackson Against Mullin

Rep. George Faught Publicly Endorses Jarrin Jackson Against Mullin
Says “The people of the 2nd District deserve honesty and integrity”

Muskogee, OK – State Representative George Faught (R-Muskogee) has released a public endorsement of Jarrin Jackson, the Republican candidate opposing Congressman Markwayne Mullin in the June 28th primary election. Faught was the runner-up in the GOP runoff election for the 2nd Congressional District seat in 2012. He is the first state-level elected official to publicly endorse against the incumbent.

“In a time when our beloved country is teetering on the precipice, it is our duty to send a true patriot to Washington, D.C., who will fight to save our Republic. Former US Army Captain Jarrin Jackson is that man. His leadership, integrity and character has been forged in the trenches of the heat of battle and we know we can trust him to take on the establishment and return our nation to the Constitutional principles that America was founded upon,” said Faught.

“Jarrin Jackson will fight for the principles that we as conservatives hold dear. He will do whatever it takes to defund Planned Parenthood and defend the Right to Life. He will work to strengthen our military and protect our veterans. He will not cave to the pressure to grow government scope and spending or succumb to the lure of power and control.”

Noting blatant inconsistencies between Mullin’s campaign promises and his record as a congressman, Rep. Faught stated that the people of the 2nd District deserve honesty and integrity in their representative.

“Jarrin’s heart to serve was proven when he enlisted in the Army following the 9/11 terrorist attacks on our country. A West Point graduate and Army Ranger with two Bronze Stars, he will continue to keep his pledge to ‘defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.’ Those currently in office who ignore our Constitution are betraying this nation vote by vote. We need a battle-tested leader, a warrior who will never surrender or be intimidated – Oklahoma and America need Jarrin Jackson in Congress!”

Rep. George Faught (R-Muskogee) is currently serving his fourth term in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and chairs the Administrative Rules Committee. He was the first Republican ever elected to House District 14, which covers eastern Muskogee and western Cherokee counties.

2010 CD2 GOP nominee Thompson endorses Jarrin Jackson

Dr. Charles Thompson Endorses Jarrin Jackson for U.S. Congress, OK-District 2
Says Jackson will lead the next generation of conservatives

May 11, 2016 (Broken Arrow, OK) - The 2010 Republican nominee for Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District, Dr. Charles Thompson announced his endorsement of Republican Jarrin Jackson today. Jackson is challenging incumbent congressman Markwayne Mullin in Oklahoma's second district.

“As a retired Army Major, I can tell you Jarrin's West Point education and his leadership in battle put him in a class the incumbent can't even imagine. His two Bronze Stars prove the strength of his character under fire and as a native Oklahoma he knows and lives our values.”

“Beyond his military service, Jarrin has a grasp of conservative thought that goes beyond his years. He gets it. He understands why limiting government is a good thing and why the Constitution should be the starting point for all political ideas.”

He said, “I've heard Jarrin's ideas about improving healthcare for our veterans, exercising the power of the purse, and replacing our tax code, for example. He articulates solid, conservative principles with ease. Jarrin has the intellect, leadership, and absolute conviction of our Constitution to make him the only choice to represent us in Congress.”

He said, “Jarrin is also the father of two young boys, On both his deployments to Afghanistan, he and his wife Katie learned firsthand what service to our country means; personal sacrifice and keeping faith. Our children are growing up free today because of him and others like him who serve and have served with the same selfless attitude. Not only do I recommend Jarrin to the voters of District 2, I also encourage each of you to work toward his election as you did mine. Thank you and God Bless our Great Country.”
