Hern: Biden's rubber-stamp SCOTUS pick undermines Constitution and American values

Hern statement on Biden’s nominee for the Supreme Court

TULSA, OK (Feb. 25th) – Representative Kevin Hern (OK-01) released the following statement after this morning’s announcement of Ketanji Brown Jackson as Biden’s nominee to the Supreme Court of the United States.

“Our nation is on the precipice of disaster,” said Rep. Hern. “It has never been more important to empower the checks and balances on the federal government. Our Supreme Court is meant to uphold our Constitution and preserve the values our founding fathers fought to instill in our nation. Ketanji Brown Jackson undermines that directive.

“Her prior rulings against the Trump Administration were largely motivated by politics rather than the law, as evidenced by the appeals court quickly overruling her decisions.  She’s shown an obvious favoritism for unions, which raises a big red flag. Jackson’s ruling on a Trump immigration policy, which was overturned, would have made it even harder for our border agents to keep our communities safe.  She’s developed a reputation for reducing drug sentences, putting criminals back on the streets in the midst of a decades-high crime wave across the country. She had an alarming ruling in an abortion case suppressing American’s freedom of speech.”

Rep. Hern continued, “Biden’s motivation behind this selection is clear. His agenda has already faced intense legal scrutiny, and several policies from Biden’s Executive Branch have already been struck down by the courts. He wants a Supreme Court that will provide unconditional support for his agenda. I hope the Senate carefully considers the decision before them.”
