Huckabee endorses Lankford for U.S. Senate

Oklahoma City, OK – Former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee, host of hit television and radio programs such as Huckabee, The Mike Huckabee Show, and The Huckabee Report, issued the following statement today announcing that he is endorsing Congressman James Lankford in his race to succeed retiring Oklahoma U.S. Senator Tom Coburn:

“The servant leadership of James Lankford is a rarity in Washington.  The idea of always being accountable, putting others first, and keeping Faith in a faithless town isn’t easy, but James maintains his integrity while representing Oklahoma in Congress.  It is obvious that James is working to revive our great nation for the next generation of Americans.”

“ James Lankford is a rock solid Conservative who works hard and understands how to get rid of government waste and balance the budget. James has fought on the front lines against Obamacare and reckless federal spending every day in Congress.  I know James is well equipped for the task ahead and I’m proud to endorse him as Oklahoma’s next great U.S. Senator. “ – Governor Mike Huckabee, Former Governor, Arkansas, April 3, 2014

About Congressman Lankford

James Lankford, U.S. Representative of Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District and Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee, declared in late January that he would run in the special election to fill the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by long-time U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D. (OK – R).

Before being elected to serve the 5th District of Oklahoma in the Unites States House of Representatives in 2010, Congressman Lankford served as the Director of Falls Creek, the largest Christian youth camp in the United States. With a Master’s of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary, associated with the Southern Baptist Convention, he devoted 22 years of his life to educating young Americans about family, tradition, and Christian beliefs.

James Lankford is a candidate in the special election to fill the remainder of Dr. Tom Coburn’s term in U.S. Senate after Coburn announced January 17, 2014 that he would seek to retire before the end of his second term.

Lankford was first elected to the United States Congress on November 2, 2010.  James serves on the House Committees on Budget and Oversight & Government Reform, where he is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy Policy, Health Care, and Entitlements. James was also elected Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee for the 113th Congress.

Lankford recently drafted and presented both the Taxpayer Right To Know Act and the Health Care Compact, two pieces of legislation that have attracted significant support from grassroots conservatives nationwide.

James Lankford received a Master’s of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary, associated with the Southern Baptist Convention, in 1994 before going on to become the Program Director of Falls Creek, the largest Christian youth camp in the United States.

While serving in Congress, James continues to work diligently studying each issue facing Congress and its impact on families in Oklahoma. He has earned the respect of his colleagues on budget issues.  James also emerged as a leader in fighting government regulations that are suffocating business today. From EPA regulations on the energy industry to the negative impact of regulations on banks and financial institutions, Congressman Lankford is fighting for prosperity in Oklahoma and our nation. He is dedicated to freeing up business to grow and add jobs to our sagging economy.

James has been married to his wife Cindy for 21 years. Together, they have two daughters: Hannah and Jordan.

  1. I'm really concerned about the race for Representative Lankford's seat. Mike Turner posted this to his facebook earlier today: “I’m gettin mad lulz in at rinos squawking like chickens because their being weaned off generous subsidies.”

Does he really consider himself a serious candidate for US House??
