Don't fall for smears: Win with Quinn on August 25th

Marty Quinn, candidate for Insurance Commissioner, has responded to shameful smears by his opponent, attacking Quinn for being born in Arkansas (I wish that was just a joke... as if one can do anything about where you are born!) and for moving to Arkansas to care for aging parents in their final days.

Yes, Bob Sullivan and his supporters are attacking Marty Quinn for prioritizing ailing family a few years back. That's a real jerk move.

I have known Quinn for over fifteen years. He is a man of sincere character and real integrity, the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. He's devoted to his church and his family. This man believes in service and putting others first. He's not the kind of man to malign and besmirch his opposition, because he believes in a positive vision for Oklahoma and setting an example for others.

He's got loads of experience - 40 years as a local insurance agent, and 12 years as a legislator. He knows how insurance works, as an industry veteran and as a consumer, and how the legislative process works and can be leveraged to bring about solutions to problems that consumers face.

Marty isn't out to make a political name for himself. He's one of those rare individuals who is motivated by a passion to help others and advance his community and state. Oklahoma needs more men in leadership like Marty Quinn.

This election cycle has been a doozy, with some wild, outrageous, and shameful attacks by candidates (many of whom share the same family of political consulting firms, namely CAMP and affiliates). Don't reward sleazy campaigns with your vote. Don't encourage dirty consultants to continue the same tactics.

Marty Quinn is a man you can trust with your vote. I encourage you to 'win with Quinn' in the August 25th runoff election.

Yesterday, our opponent sent texts and ran ads questioning whether we belong in Oklahoma and whether we're eligible to serve as your next Insurance Commissioner.

The facts are simple:
• We spent 28 years living in Claremore, raising our family, building our careers, and serving our community.
• We moved to Arkansas for a few years to care for aging parents who needed us. It’s where God called us to be at that time.
• During that time, we lost two parents, and after returning to Oklahoma, we moved my mother into our home so we could continue caring for family.
• Oklahoma law requires candidates for Insurance Commissioner to have lived in the state for five years, and those years do not have to be consecutive.
• We have lived in Oklahoma for 30 years total, far exceeding the legal requirement.
• We have received a letter from the Attorney General's Office that we meet all legal requirements to run.
• We are honored to have the endorsement and support of former Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D Doak, who knows firsthand what it takes to serve Oklahoma consumers.

We will never apologize for taking care of family when they needed us most. In fact, the same commitment, compassion, and sense of responsibility that guided us then is exactly how we will serve Oklahoma families as your next Insurance Commissioner.

We're proud of our story, proud of our record, and proud to call Oklahoma home. Remember your friend, Marty Quinn on August 25th!
