Carolyn Coburn endorses Dr. Julie McIntosh in Senate District 3

The State Senate District 3 GOP primary features a middle-of-the-road incumbent Republican (Blake 'Cowboy' Stephens) and two conservative challengers - Dr. Julie McIntosh and Wagoner City Councilor Patrick Sampson.

The McIntosh's are family friends and carpet cleaning customers, at home and medical practice. Julie's husband Brad was a longtime partner with the late great Dr. Tom Coburn. Coburn's widow, Carolyn, issued the following endorsement statement for Julie McIntosh:

A letter from Carolyn Coburn, the wife of late U.S. Senator Tom Coburn:

"When Tom needed help in his medical practice, he set about finding physicians with integrity and deep-rooted Christian principles – individuals like Dr. Julie and Dr. Brad McIntosh. After bringing the McIntosh family to Muskogee, duty called Tom to the United States Senate.

He trusted Julie and Brad to care for his patients and their community, so that he could focus on caring for America. Dr. Julie McIntosh worked for our county health department, while her husband tended to many of Tom’s personal patients, friends and family.

Their commitment to excellence and compassion earned them Tom’s utmost trust. I am 100% confident that Tom would endorse fellow physician Dr. Julie McIntosh for the Oklahoma State Senate.

I know that Dr. Julie McIntosh loves the Lord. She is an amazing Mom who balanced her career as a physician while homeschooling her four children, who have all grown to be outstanding Christian adults. Julie has a true servant's heart, and is now ready to help restore Biblical principles and integrity to our state and nation. I wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Julie McIntosh for State Senate, knowing firsthand her dedication to faith, family and community."
