Eddie Huff on National Anthem protests: what did Hitler think?

Former KFAQ host Eddie Huff posted these thoughts on the NFL national anthem protests, and I just had to share it:
"For all of those who think the anthem is a symbol of white superiority and oppression, and think President DJT is a racist beneficiary of "White Privilege," I ask one question.

What do you think Adolf Hitler though of when he heard the American National Anthem? Two words:

JESSE OWENS!!!

The 1936 Olympics in Berlin were to showcase Aryan superiority but Jesse Owens, a BLACK, AMERICAN, athlete, Pee'd all over that in winning a record 4 Gold Medals.

Imagine Hitler's demeanor each time Jesse stood on that podium above Hitler's specimens of white superiority. I will bet that Hitler had the Star Spangled Banner banned.

It was not the flag and anthem of Germany, France, Russia, Arab or even African nation that was played. It was the Anthem of the United States of America. Jesse returned HOME to receive a "Ticker Tape Parade" celebrated as national hero.

So the next time a person tells you that the Flag and Anthem are racist symbols, ask them what Hitler thought about that."

Mullin officially says he's running for 4th term, breaking term limits pledge

2nd District Congressman Markwayne Mullin released a video today announcing his plans to run for re-election in 2018, acknowledging his intent to break his term limits pledge.

The video was "moderated" by former KFAQ radio host Eddie Huff, and featured Mullin and his wife Christie talking about his decision.

I've been pretty vocal with my disagreement regarding Mullin, but I take no pleasure in seeing a man so flippantly break his word. I have a difficult time respecting someone who repeatedly pledges one thing, and then turns around and does the opposite. That's the problem grassroots conservatives have had with the powers-that-be in Washington, who pledge their adherence to conservative principles only to betray us at every turn.

He says in his video that the "easy decision was not to run again". I disagree. The easy, DC-motivated political decision was to run for a fourth and consecutive terms with the power of incumbency. The hard thing, politically, is to keep a term limits pledge (like Tom Coburn did in 2000).

Former Congressman J.C. Watts spoke to the Muskogee GOP in 2010, and during his speech he said that his biggest regret from his time in politics was when he was seduced by the applause and broke his term limits pledge.

I remember speaking with one of the big figures in Oklahoma Republican politics who was there, and he told me that it was the first time he'd ever heard Watts publicly say that. Watts said that he had made a pledge before God and to his constituents, and when he broke it that fourth term became his worst time in office politically and with his family.

I can't say I'm surprised at Mullin's announcement -- I've said before that I fully expected this -- but I am disappointed and saddened to see yet another elected official break a clear and repeated promise to his constituents.

Keeping one's word is out of style and not political expedient, but it's always the right thing to do.

Eddie Huff leaves KFAQ

Eddie Huff, co-host of The Pat Campbell Show on Tulsa's 1170 KFAQ, is leaving the airwaves. After six years on the radio, Huff made the announcement today:
To all of my Tulsa friends and KFAQ fans, I wanted you to hear from me before the rumor mill began running wild. First of all, yes it IS true today was my last day as a regular on the Pat Campbell show.

Back in 2010 when Pat first invited me on and then Brian Gann offered me a noon show, I said, "Lord as long as you want me here I will stay. When you no longer want me here I am ready to go." I have actually been tempted many times over these 6 years to quit, BUT did not get that release. Today that release came.

As the saying goes, "If God closes one door He opens another." For now I will enjoy sleeping in, and focusing on some ministry that I have been working on for some time, as well as my insurance agency.

I do want to thank Pat Campbell and KFAQ for welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts and ideas for the past 6 years. I ask you to continue to support Pat and his show. He is a great and kind man, despite his persona and it has been my extreme pleasure to argue with him over these 6 years. He is a TRUE friend.

I will still be active on Facebook, Twitter and my blog NewBlackThought.blogspot.com.

Blessing and grace to all!
For a brief period, Huff had his own local show on KFAQ, but the majority of his involvement has been as co-host and fill-in for Pat Campbell. Recently, Huff has also filled in for nationally syndicated talker Todd Schnitt (also aired on KFAQ - Campbell has filled in for Schnitt as well).
