Republican Congressman Kevin Hern (OK-01) is running for the Senate seat currently held by Markwayne Mullin, whom President Trump has nominated to head up the Department of Homeland Security.
In the past few days, first Congressman Josh Brecheen (OK-02) and then President Donald Trump himself have endorsed Hern's Senate bid. Add to this the fact that Hern is starting his Senate run with over $7,000,000 in cash on hand (with ~$5M in personal loans), and he has what likely amounts to an insurmountable jumpstart. At this point, will any legitimate, viable candidate even challenge Hern?
Rep. Josh Brecheen Endorses Hern for Senate
TULSA, OK (March 12, 2026) – Today, Congressman Josh Brecheen (OK-02) announced he’s backing Kevin Hern for U.S. Senate. Brecheen is the first member of the Oklahoma Congressional Delegation to endorse Hern.
“Today, I am endorsing Kevin Hern for the United States Senate,” said Brecheen. “We need a principle - based U.S. Senator who is fully prepared to take on the duty at this critical juncture for our nation. I believe that person is Kevin Hern.
“Throughout our time serving together in Congress, I have come to respect Kevin’s conservatism and his relentless pursuit of solutions. I’ve seen him, behind the scenes, speak uncomfortable truths to our Republican conference when it would have been politically easier not to create waves. His actions and votes prove that he fully knows the fiscal peril our nation is facing and that more courageous decisions are required.

President Donald J. Trump Endorses Hern for Senate
TULSA, OK (March 13, 2026) – Today, President Donald J. Trump announced his endorsement of Kevin Hern for U.S. Senate. The President made the announcement on Truth Social, writing that Hern “will be an outstanding Senator” and has his “complete and total endorsement.”
“I’m honored to have President Trump’s support as I run to represent Oklahoma in the United States Senate,” said Hern. “He has delivered strong leadership for our country, and I’m proud to stand with him to secure our borders, strengthen our economy, support our men and women in uniform, and restore the American Dream for hardworking families.
