Republican Dr. Chris Emerson Announces Candidacy for Open State Senate Seat - Senate District 37

[November 14, 2023] - Republican Dr. Chris Emerson announces his candidacy to serve Oklahomans living in Senate District 37 which includes the cities of Jenks and Sand Springs in Tulsa County. The Republican primary election takes place on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Dr. Emerson’s campaign is in full swing and is currently making stops throughout the district and meeting with voters.

Dr. Emerson said, “I chose medicine as a profession as a means to positively impact lives across our local community - I have spent a lifetime helping families, children and senior citizens, caring for and interacting with people from all walks of life. Now, the same families I’ve cared for are facing even more challenges. They share with me the rising stressors of high inflation, gas prices, providing for the family, and recognizing the loss of freedom and opportunity. I am seeking to take my knowledge, my demonstrated long term and broad based volunteerism in helping others,  and keen understanding of how people are impacted by legislation, to be an effective advocate for our entire community.”

Dr. Emerson is a graduate of Putnam City West High School in Oklahoma City and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Anesthesiology, where he achieved the ranking of Chief Resident. Dr. Emerson has served as the Director, Oklahoma (2019-2023) and Alternate Director, Oklahoma (2012-2018) for the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He is a past president of the Oklahoma Society of Anesthesiologists (2009, 2015).

“I love God, my family and the Great State of Oklahoma. This is my home and I want it to be a place all of my children and grandchildren can grow, live and thrive, along with yours, too,” Emerson said.

Emerson has been actively involved in Scouting since 1999, serving the Boy Scouts of America in leading both Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops in various roles. He currently serves as Assistant Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor for Troop 252. Dr. Emerson and his wife, Amy reside in Jenks, Oklahoma and have nine children. They attend BattleCreek Church, and have been members since its founding in 2003.

Dr. Chris Emerson is a proven leader, from managing challenging surgical care in the hospital, advocating for healthcare initiatives for Oklahomans and nationally, to mentoring boy scouts and community events and activities, to his greatest joy of being husband and father. He is the proven leader that Senate District 37 needs at the Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City as we face the challenging times ahead for our state and nation.

Emerson will host his campaign kickoff on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Red Fork Depot located at 3816 Southwest Blvd, Tulsa, OK 74107. All neighbors in the Jenks and Sand Springs communities are invited to attend.
