Congress should end tax loophole for foreign businesses

The “double drawback” loophole is a technical policy within federal trade law that is not widely known, yet it has a surprising connection to Oklahoma. The repeal of this loophole was included in the version of the One Big, Beautiful Bill that passed the House, but is missing from the Senate version of the bill.

That needs to change.

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 12, 2025) - Today, Governor Kevin Stitt announced one of the largest ammunition manufacturers in the world, CBC Global Ammunition, has chosen Oklahoma for a major U.S. expansion. As part of a $300 million investment, CBC Global Ammunition will build a new facility at MidAmerica Industrial Park in northeast Oklahoma and bring 350 new jobs to the state.

The announcement was made during the U.S. Department of Commerce’s SelectUSA Investment Summit, where Governor Stitt led Oklahoma’s delegation to promote the state’s pro-growth, pro-business, and pro-America economic environment.

Gann Warns Against Corporate Welfare on Steroids Following CANOO Bankruptcy

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 21st) – Rep. Tom Gann, R-Inola,  an opponent of corporate welfare, today issued a stark warning regarding the ongoing misuse of public funds.

"Corporate welfare is when the government takes the public's money to manipulate the economy, choosing winners and losers in the free market," Gann said. "In recent years, this practice has intensified, creating an era of corporate welfare on steroids, as Oklahoma government has pushed massive green-energy giveaways that align more with a liberal agenda than Oklahoma's conservative values."

Gann pointed to last week's bankruptcy of the high-profile, green-energy, electric vehicle startup, CANOO, as a prime example of why government must stop interfering in the free market. Canoo's manufacturing plant in Pryor is in Gann's House district.

Congressman Dan Boren is holding three town hall meetings today: one each in McAlester, Muskogee and Pryor.

Muskogee - 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

It's good to see Congressman Boren decide to hold town hall meetings after all. Now, if only Senator Inhofe and Congressman Sullivan would follow suit, then all of the Oklahoma delegation will be holding town hall meetings during the August recess.
