As a former county party vice-chair, I can attest that this is quite the grassroots accomplishment:

5 new counties become Second Amendment Sanctuaries, bringing total to 13

Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux started a movement among county sheriffs in Oklahoma on Wednesday when he declared his county to be a Second Amendment Sanctuary County. Since then, a dozen more sheriffs have followed suit, being supported so far by at least one District Attorney and one board of county commissions.

Five new sheriffs published their declarations of Sanctuary status since Friday, bringing the total to thirteen. They are as follows:

  1. Logan County
  2. Stephens County
  3. Canadian County
  4. Haskell County
  5. Bryan County
  6. Pittsburg County
  7. LeFlore County
  8. Cimarron County
  9. Coal County
  10. Cotton County
  11. Kiowa County
  12. Pushmataha County
  13. Latimer County
There will almost assuredly be more to join the list today. Multiple county commisson boards will be hearing resolutions today that support their sheriffs in this endeavor.

Lowe responds to Logan County Sheriff's 2nd Amendment Sanctuary declaration

Lowe Releases Statement on Logan County Sheriff’s “Sanctuary County” Declaration

OKLAHOMA CITY -- State Rep. Jason Lowe (D-OKC) released the following statement after Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereau declared Logan County a “Second Amendment Sanctuary County”:

“I would hope that the sheriff of Logan County would uphold all of the Constitution and not just parts of it. This is a political stunt that has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with the sheriff’s politics. It also doesn’t change that Oklahomans have yet to have their say on whether the state should require training before someone carries a firearm in public.”

Sheriff declares Logan County a Sanctuary County for the 2nd Amendment

Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux, the Oklahoma Sheriff's Association 2018 Sheriff of the Year, has declared Logan County to be a 'Second Amendment Sanctuary County', vowing to not enforce any law that infringes upon the right to keep and bear arms.
Sanctuary status for the 2nd Amendment is a grassroots movement that is sweeping the nation; Sheriff Devereaux appears to be the first government official in Oklahoma to join the action in any sort of official way.

The movement began in states like Illinois, where new Democratic leadership embarked on aggressive gun-control campaigns. It spread slowly but surely over the past few years, and with the election of Gov. Ralph Northam and a Democratic majority in Virginia intent on passing major gun-rights restrictions took off like wildfire in Virginia.
