Global Warming, eh?

According to many in the worlds of Science and Politics (or, political Science), the Earth is on a dangerous global warming global cooling global warming, no, climate change trend.

Oh really? Explain this.

From the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admintration (NOAA) (emphasis mine):

The October 2009 average temperature for the contiguous United States was the third coolest on record for that month according to NOAA’s State of the Climate report issued today. Based on data going back to 1895, the monthly National Climatic Data Center analysis is part of the suite of climate services provided by NOAA.

The average October temperature of 50.8 degrees F was 4.0 degrees F below the 20th Century average. Preliminary data also reveals this was the wettest October on record with average precipitation across the contiguous United States reaching 4.15 inches, 2.04 inches above the 1901-2000 average.

Also from NOAA:
Oklahoma recorded its coldest October on record while the month ranked in the top five for Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Not only was it one of the coldest Octobers on record, it was also the wettest. Combined with the recently released Climategate emails, things are starting to look bad for the global cooling global warming climate change, or whatever the latest politically-correct term is, crowd.

  1. Good post, Jamison. There is something very frustrating about the debate on this issue. There are a lot of people who have always questioned the validity of the claims of the global warming alarmists. I really doubt those same people want to hurt the environment in any way. I know I do not. That is what we are getting accused of however.

The GOP is getting accused of being the party of "NO" by standing firm against the cap and tax legislation that has been introduced in Congress, but answer me this question. How do they expect us to have an honest debate about the issue when they insist on falsifying the data they claim backs up their fears?

I am afraid this is one more case where their definition of honest debate means a debate where only their side of the story gets heard. I am getting just a bit tired of that kind of debate.

  2. Jamison - that's become the big joke around our house, whereas we use to "blame" everything on "global warming", we are now correcting ourselves and blaming everything on "climate change".

Climate change allows them to say "see we're right" no matter what the weather does.
