Pro-life leader: 3 Oklahoma Supreme Court justices on ballot have "deep pro-abortion bias"

The following is from Oklahomans For Life Chairman Tony Lauinger regarding the three Oklahoma Supreme Court justices up for a statewide retention vote:

Pro-Abortion State Supreme Court Justices’ Fate Rests in Voters’ Hands; Options Are Retirement  Or Six More Years of Pro-Abortion Activism

Three notoriously pro-abortion members of the Oklahoma Supreme Court are on the JUDICIAL RETENTION section of the ballot for the November 5th General Election. Under the heading Justices of the Oklahoma Supreme Court are listed separately the names of Noma Gurich, Yvonne Kauger, and James Edmondson

All three of these justices have shown themselves to be relentlessly in opposition to protecting the lives of unborn children.

Rep. Olsen: Fallacies abound in Pro-Abortion Bill – Senate Bill 834

Fallacies abound in Pro-Abortion Bill – Senate Bill 834
By State Rep. Jim Olsen (R-Roland)

Senate Bill 834 is the pro-abortion bill that Oklahomans For Life Chairman Tony Lauinger is pushing hard for, but is probably dead for this session.  There are numerous fallacies associated with this bill.  Here are just a few.

Rep. Olsen: The wrong kind of history is being made in the Pro-Life movement

The wrong kind of history is being made in the Pro-Life movement
By State Rep. Jim Olsen (R-Roland)

Something unprecedented is happening in the Pro-Life movement.

What do I mean?  Am I speaking of the overturning of Roe v. Wade last summer?  That was wonderful news, but no, that's not what I am referring to.

I am actually speaking about some very bad news.

First, let me give the background here.  Last year, the Oklahoma Legislature passed two outstanding bills to protect innocent, unborn life.  HB 4327 addressed civil law.  It was much like the Texas law on abortion that allowed civil lawsuits.  Our law was even better, because it went all the way back to conception, the beginning of life.

The other bill we passed addressed criminal law.  SB 612 made abortion a felony, with punishments up to 10 years in prison, and a fine up to $100,000.

These two bills combined make us the strongest state in the union to defend innocent, unborn life.  This is where we always wanted to be.  It is a dream come true!

So, what is the bad news then?  The bad news is that there is an organization that wants to weaken, water down, and partially dismantle our strongly pro-life laws.  Senate Bill 834 is a pro-choice bill that would add several exceptions to our laws against abortion, repeal our law against self-induced abortion, and protect contraceptives that act as abortifacients.  This is a significant loosening of our current law.

Will the Oklahoma State Senate re-legalize abortion in an effort to appease the Left?

Last week, Republicans on the Oklahoma Senate Health and Human Services Committee passed a measure that would re-legalize and expand abortion in limited (for now) circumstances, in addition to allow for "the use, prescription, administration, procuring, or selling of any type of contraception [if] administered before the time when a pregnancy could be determined through conventional medical testing." This presumably would allow the permanent reintroduction of abortion-inducing early pregnancy drugs like RU-486/Mifepristone.

This measure (SB 834), bizarrely promoted by Tony Lauinger of Oklahomans for Life, is an effort to counteract perceived future attempts by pro-abortion forces to get a state question on the ballot by initiative petition. The thought process seems to be, "Let's put some exceptions back into law so we don't appear to be too radical on banning abortion."

Oklahomans for Life: Hofmeister betrays the unborn, vows to repeal pro-life law

From Tony Lauinger, Oklahomans For Life state chairman:

Joy Hofmeister Betrays Unborn Children, Vows to Repeal Oklahoma’s Pro-Life Law
Gov. Kevin Stitt Has Been Pro-Life Champion

In a stunning betrayal of unborn children, gubernatorial candidate Joy Hofmeister has reversed the pro-life commitment she made when she entered public office. When she was elected Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2014, she promised to defend unborn children from abortion. Now she has abandoned that commitment.

Oklahoma Pro-Life group: vote NO on State Question 805

Oklahoma Pro-Life group: Vote NO on State Question 805
Measure Would Grant Leniency to Serial Abortion-Law Violators

(October 15th, 2020 -- Oklahomans for Life) We urge your strong opposition to State Question 805 because of its effect on abortion in Oklahoma. State Question 805 is a proposed constitutional amendment which is on the November 3rd General Election ballot.

State Question 805 prohibits increased sentences (sentence “enhancements”) for repeat offenders who continue to commit “non-violent” felonies, thus limiting the time habitual criminals spend behind bars. Under State Question 805, abortion is classified as “non-violent.”

Even under the U.S. Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, there are circumstances under which states can protect the lives of unborn children, and Oklahoma’s legislature has done so. Our state has passed laws prohibiting certain types of particularly heinous abortions – for example, partial-birth abortions – the commission of which are felonies.

Partial-birth abortion is a procedure in which the abortionist pulls a living baby feet-first out of the womb and into the birth canal, except for the head. The abortionist punctures the base of the baby’s skull with a surgical instrument, then inserts a tube into the wound and removes the baby's brain with a powerful suction machine. This causes the skull to collapse, after which the abortionist completes the delivery of the now-dead baby. Committing this heinous act in Oklahoma is a felony. Incredibly, under State Question 805, this is classified a “non-violent” felony.

Two other pro-life laws, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act, would be similarly impacted by State Question 805. These are precisely the types of crimes for which State Question 805 would bestow on abortion criminals a “get-out-of-jail” card.

Oklahoma has had a particularly sordid history with abortion-industry practitioners. In the years since Roe v. Wade, media reports have chronicled two different instances in which Oklahoma-City-area abortionists have killed their wives. One of the abortionists was convicted of murder. [see link]

The other abortionist was convicted of manslaughter in his wife’s death. [see link]

According to court records, another abortion-mill operator, this one at an infamous Tulsa facility, was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder. The intended target of the murder-for-hire plot was his partner in the abortion mill. [see link]

Press reports indicate that yet another notorious abortionist was shut down for exploiting women and committing fraud, in some cases telling women they were pregnant when he knew they were not, and then selling them abortion-inducing drugs. Imagine the anguish of going through life believing you had aborted your baby – when, in fact, you had not actually been pregnant – just so a greedy shyster could exploit a woman’s panic in order to get a big fee. [see link].

It is against this appalling and despicable backdrop that State Question 805 would treat abortion criminals as “first-time offenders” – even if, for example, they committed partial-birth abortions repeatedly as a business model – imposing on them only the same light fine or penalty each time. Compounding the injustice, State Question 805 is a constitutional change, which means the legislature could never go back and add partial-birth abortion to the list of “violent” crimes eligible for enhanced sentences for repeat offenders.

For these reasons, we urge you to vote No on State Question 805.

Thank you.

Oklahomans For Life: Bice misrepresents pro-life record, no endorsement in CD5 primary

No endorsement in 5th Congressional District Republican Primary by Oklahomans For Life
Misrepresentation by Stephanie Bice Campaign

(June 18th) We have received a number of inquiries from residents of the 5th Congressional District about the use of the name and logo of Oklahomans For Life in the 5th District Republican Primary. Use of our name and logo in this race has been done without our knowledge or consent.

We have learned that residents of the 5th Congressional District have received several mailings in recent days implying, or stating outright, that one of the candidates in the Republican Primary has been endorsed by Oklahomans For Life. The mailings have been sent by, or on behalf of, the campaign of Stephanie Bice.

Oklahomans For Life has not endorsed anyone in the 5th Congressional District Republican Primary. Any claim to the contrary is incorrect.

The most recent mail piece says Stephanie Bice has been “Endorsed & Rated 100% Pro-Life by Oklahomans For Life, Inc.” Neither half of that assertion is accurate.

Oklahomans For Life has not endorsed Stephanie Bice in this, or any other race. Regarding the claim that she has been “Rated 100% Pro-Life by Oklahomans For Life,” there have been 14 pro-life bills for which we have advocated during the six years Stephanie Bice has been in the legislature. She has voted for 12 of the 14 bills. (The bills are on our website under “Votes.”)

There are several other candidates in the 5th Congressional District Republican Primary who are strongly pro-life, including David Hill, Janet Barresi, Michael Ballard, and Terry Neese. For one of the candidates, or her surrogates, to falsely claim the endorsement of Oklahomans For Life is an unacceptable misrepresentation – misleading to the voters of the district, unjust to the other candidates, and a disservice to the unborn child.

Oklahoma legislature Candidate-Survey responses are posted on our Oklahomans For Life website, www.OkForLife.org. Please click here for Candidate Surveys. Click here for Votes on pro-life bills in the legislature. Oklahoma’s Primary Election is tomorrow.

No endorsement has been made in the 5th District Republican Primary by Oklahomans For Life or National Right to Life. Several strongly pro-life candidates are competing for the Republican nomination. Those who have answered National Right to Life's Congressional Candidate Questionnaire with all pro-life answers are David Hill, Janet Barresi, Michael Ballard, Miles Rahimi, Terry Neese, and Stephanie Bice. The incumbent is radical pro-abortion Democrat Kendra Horn.

In addition to 37 detailed questions about legislation, the Candidate Questionnaire of National Right to Life asks this question: “Under what circumstances, if any, do you believe abortion should be legal?” The 5th Congressional District candidates’ answers to this question are as follows:

David Hill: “I am pro-life without exception.”
Janet Barresi: “Only to prevent the death of the mother (the NRL position).”
Michael Ballard: “Only to prevent the death of the mother (the NRL position).”
Miles Rahimi: “Only to prevent the death of the mother (the NRL position).”
Terry Neese: “To prevent the death of the mother, or in cases of rape reported to a law enforcement agency, or incest against a minor reported to a child abuse agency.”

Stephanie Bice: “To prevent the death of the mother, or in cases of rape reported to a law enforcement agency, or incest against a minor reported to a child abuse agency.”
