AG Drummond to testify before House committee in impeachment hearing against Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas

Drummond to testify before U.S. House committee in impeachment proceedings against Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 8, 2024) - Attorney General Gentner Drummond will testify Wednesday to the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee as part of that panel’s impeachment proceedings against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The action comes in the wake of Mayorkas’ failure to secure the nation’s southwest border.

Drummond was invited to testify due to his focus of ridding Oklahoma of the foreign nationals who have invaded the marijuana industry. He is expected to tell committee members how the recent influx of illegal immigrants into the U.S. has allowed criminal enterprises, primarily populated by Mexican and Chinese nationals, to jeopardize public safety through drug trafficking and other crimes.

House Dems want to impeach State Superintendent Ryan Walters -- and fundraise off it

When you're a superminority party unable to do anything of consequence in the Legislature by reason of holding so few seats, what better way to try to regain relevance by drumming up attention with calls for an impeachment? Quick! Get CNN and MSNBC on the line!

And, of course, raise a quick buck off the political stunt. Gotta fundraise somehow!

All five Oklahoma Congressmembers vote against Trump's second impeachment

All five of Oklahoma's U.S. Representatives voted against the second impeachment of President Donald Trump yesterday, which passed the lower chamber by a vote of 232-197, with 10 Republicans joining the Democrats in approving the article.

I posted Congresswoman Bice's statement yesterday. Here are comments from the other four Oklahoma congressmen:

Bice opposes "rushed" impeachment, decries political expediency and effort to divide rather than heal

Bice Statement on Impeachment Vote

Washington, DC - Representative Stephanie Bice (OK-05) released the following statement regarding today's vote to impeach President Trump.

“Today’s rushed vote is one for political expediency that will only impede efforts to heal the nation, and therefore I will not be voting to impeach President Trump. I will not vote to further divide this nation at a time when we should be focused on helping the American people and unifying the country.

Lucas: With impeachment concluded, Congress must get back to work

With Impeachment Concluded, Congress Must Get Back to Work

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to acquit President Donald Trump on both articles of impeachment by a vote of 52–48 and 53–47, respectively:

“For more than 4 months, the American people have been distracted by a purely partisan impeachment. Even before Speaker Nancy Pelosi formally announced the House’s impeachment inquiry, House Democrats were driven to impeach the President. In fact, 3 previous articles of impeachment were brought before the House before September with 103 House Democrats out of 233 voting to impeach the President before the President’s phone call in question to Ukrainian President Zelensky ever took place.

Over the course of the inquiry in the House, Members heard more than 100 hours of deposition testimony from 17 witnesses. After failing to come to an agreement with the Trump Administration for related documents, House impeachment managers instead rushed to their preconceived judgement, withdrawing subpoenas and choosing not to issue a subpoena to their self-identified key witness- former National Security Advisor John Bolton. Instead of pursuing the full extent of their own impeachment articles, House Democrats instead chose to expedite their political preference over the truth.

Now that the Senate has acquitted the President, protecting the institution of our democracy from a flawed and partisan probe, I hope we can return to focusing on legislation that the American people sent us to Congress to address. Our communities’ roads and bridges are in need of repair and investment and our nation is in dire need of a healthcare system that provides access to quality, affordable healthcare options with lower healthcare costs. Bipartisan legislation was long a norm of our historic institution and it’s my hope we can return to that civil norm.”

Neese releases first digital ad campaign

TERRY NEESE RELEASES FIRST DIGITAL AD
Conservative Terry Neese Stands With President Trump Against Impeachment

Oklahoma City, OK – Terry Neese, conservative Republican candidate for Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District, released her campaign’s first digital advertisement today.

The 30-second ad, titled “Witch Hunt,” highlights how Kendra Horn is siding with the D.C. elite to impeach President Trump instead of her own constituents who were promised stronger borders, more jobs, and less partisanship. It also calls for Republicans to unify behind Terry Neese, a conservative outsider and proven job creator who has what it takes to hold Horn accountable in 2020 and help President Trump deliver his America First agenda for another four years.

“Kendra Horn sealed her fate by voting with Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff to impeach President Trump – and it’s going to take a conservative outsider to make sure we hold her accountable in November,” said Terry Neese. “We need a Congresswoman in Washington who won’t be scared to stand up to the D.C. elite to protect our values, but Kendra Horn has failed us at every turn. I have spent my entire life and career fighting to better the lives of all Oklahomans, and I know I have what it takes to bring my fight to Capitol Hill and help President Trump put America First.”

Transcript:
A witch hunt. A sham impeachment. Our President, under attack. But Kendra Horn is siding with the D.C. elite. That’s why Oklahoma needs conservative Terry Neese. A successful businesswoman. A conservative leader. Terry will always stand with President Trump and defeat Kendra Horn. Because Terry Neese is the fighter Oklahoma needs. Tough. Experienced. Conservative. OKGOP comments on Dems and Kendra Horn's impeachment vote

From the Oklahoma Republican Party:
Yesterday, Oklahoma's fifth District US Congresswoman Kendra Horn joined Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in a partisan vote to impeach President Donald Trump. In so doing, she rejected her own district and state, who overwhelmingly supported President Trump for the presidency. Instead of representing her home district, she went to Washington DC and developed a record as an obstructionist who allowed personal emotions and partisan allies direct decisions instead of following the US Constitution and the will of the people.

Elections have consequences. We now are seeing in plain sight what the narrow victory that Congresswoman Horn, funded by now Democrat candidate for President, New York's Michael Bloomberg did to our state with his $400,000 invested in her campaign last minute. We must raise funds to defeat Horn and stop out of state liberal interests from controlling our Oklahoma votes in the future.

Last evening, after her vote, she was caught on video avoiding cameras and refusing to answer questions on why she voted as she did. Why? Because she only answers to her out of state liberal friends. Not Oklahomans.

Congresswoman Horn must be defeated. We need American Patriots who will work together to #TakeBackthe5th for America, for our State, for our President, and for our nation to preserve our liberty.

OKGOP launches "2020 Challenge"

From Oklahoma Republican Party chairman David McLain:

"The Democrats' witch-hunt and their progressive, socialistic way of conducting a fake impeachment process has gone too far. Kendra Horn has sided with Nancy Pelosi to impeach President Trump. It's time to take the step to join me in removing Kendra Horn from office. I need your help and resources to win back the 5th Congressional District.

Everyday Republicans ask how they can help. My reply is to take the "2020 Challenge" with me: $20 per month for 20 months. Our goal is to have 2,020 commitments by the first of March 2020.

Sign up on our website, like I did, and join me in fighting back against these progressives who want to strip our liberties and freedoms from us.

Will you join me and be part of the solution?"

GOP candidate David Hill comments on Horn's support of Trump impeachment

Hill Statement on Horn Impeachment Announcement

David Hill, candidate for Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District released the following statement after Kendra Horn announced she would vote for the impeachment of President Trump.

“Kendra Horn has turned her back on Oklahoma. She promised to be independent but her vote for impeachment shows that she's just another partisan politician. President Trump has done nothing to deserve this. The liberals in Congress are running roughshod over our Constitution.”

Neese slams Horn for supporting impeachment

TERRY NEESE RIPS KENDRA HORN FOR STABBING CONSTITUENTS IN THE BACK BY SUPPORTING IMPEACHMENT

Oklahoma City, OK – Terry Neese, conservative Republican candidate for Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District, released the following statement today ripping Democratic Congresswoman Kendra Horn for stabbing her constituents in the back after announcing she will vote to impeach President Trump.

"Kendra Horn spent her week in the district hearing from hundreds of constituents who hoped she would stand up to Nancy Pelosi and put their interests first like she promised — and then she promptly returned to Washington to stab them in the back. Working families in the 5th District deserve so much more than a radical Congresswoman who has voted with Nancy Pelosi 88 percent of the time, who will vote for impeachment, and who has worked with her Party to hijack our democracy and the will of millions of American voters. Make no mistake, Kendra Horn will be held accountable — the voters of the 5th District will make sure of it."

Neese: Rep. Horn needs to stop hiding impeachment stance

TERRY NEESE CALLS ON KENDRA HORN TO TAKE A STAND ON IMPEACHMENT

Oklahoma City, OK – Terry Neese, conservative Republican candidate for Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District, today called on liberal Congresswoman Kendra Horn to come out of hiding and tell her constituents whether she supports the two articles of impeachment brought forward by Democrats this week.

“Kendra Horn hid for a month before she came out to support the impeachment inquiry, and now she is refusing to tell us whether she will vote for the articles of impeachment introduced by Democrats this week," said Terry Neese. "We deserve better than a Congresswoman who lacks the courage and conviction to stand up to Nancy Pelosi and put an end to this desperate political theatre. It is time for Kendra Horn to come out of hiding and let her constituents know if she will vote to impeach President Trump."

Hern blasts Pelosi for moving on impeachment without any facts

Rep. Hern condemns Pelosi’s decision to move forward on impeachment without any facts

WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Kevin Hern (OK-01) released the following statement after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement to pursue articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

“This decision to move forward on impeachment was made with one thing in mind, and that’s to get this over with as soon as possible,” said Rep. Hern.

“Pelosi saw impeachment favorability drop in the polls these last few weeks, even Congressional support among Democrats is falling. Her goal has always been to impeach President Trump and she knows that the longer she waits, the fewer
votes she’ll have. Just a few short months ago, Pelosi said that there must be bipartisan support to move forward with something as serious as impeachment, but so far the only bipartisanship has been in opposition to this sham process.”

Rep. Hern continued, “To any Member of Congress saying they want to wait for the facts or need
more information before committing to impeach, today’s announcement ensures that you will never get those facts or any new information. Pelosi made it clear that she has all the information she needs. This rushed process will not uncover anything new. If we learned anything from this week’s Judiciary hearing, it’s that facts and fact witnesses are the last thing on Pelosi’s mind right now. She’s been saying all along that she wanted a vote on impeachment before Christmas – even before the hearings began! She
was never going to give the inquiry adequate time, and she certainly was never going to give President Trump a fair shot.”

Background Information:

On March 11, 2019, the
Washington Post published an interview with Speaker Nancy Pelosi where she was quoted saying that “unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.”

Sen. Dahm, Rep. West file resolution condemning Trump impeachment hearings

Resolution Condemning U.S. Congress Impeachment Hearings
Filed by Rep. Kevin West, Sen. Nathan Dahm

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Rep. Kevin West (R-Moore) and Sen. Nathan Dahm (R-Broken Arrow) filed a House Concurrent Resolution asking their colleagues in both the House and Senate to condemn the actions of the U.S. Congress for pursuing impeachment proceedings against President Donald J. Trump instead of performing the serious work prescribed to them by the Constitution, which the people elected them to fulfill and which each member swore to uphold.

West and Dahm invite any member of the Oklahoma Legislature to sign onto House Concurrent Resolution 1009 as a co-author. They will request the resolution be considered during the Second Session of the 57th Legislature, which commences Monday, Feb. 3, 2020. Copies of the resolution will be dispatched to President Trump, the clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives and the secretary of the U.S. Senate as well as the Oklahoma Congressional Delegation.

“This Concurrent Resolution condemning the Congress of the United States for pursuing impeachment proceedings against a duly elected President is about the blatant disregard for due process and should shock and terrify every American citizen,” West said. “The partisan attacks on our President have blinded many members of Congress, and they are refusing to do the jobs they were elected by their constituents to do. Congress is sent to our nation’s Capitol to represent the constituents of their districts, protect American interests and protect American citizens. What is happening right now in Washington D.C. is an embarrassment to our country and a full assault on our United States Constitution. We cannot stand by and allow this abuse of power to continue.”

Dahm added, “For far too long members of Congress have blatantly ignored the Constitution and the rights protected in it. We’ve seen numerous laws passed and introduced that violate due process, and now this new attack on the President is another example of how little regard is being shown for the protections in our Bill of Rights. If there are those willing to violate these rights in going after a duly elected President, the future of what may be used against our citizens is of great concern. We must take a stand for our rights.”

The resolution sets out that the American people expect and deserve an efficient and hard-working federal government, free of distracting bias and politically driven theatrics. It posits that many of the current membership of the United State Congress are not abiding by the merits of the Republic as espoused by our nation’s founders, forefathers and the intent of the U.S. Constitution.

The resolution further explains there are many serious issues Congress is responsible for addressing, including protecting taxpayers’ money from waste, maintaining our nation’s military for times of declared war, securing our borders through proper immigration and naturalization laws, and leaving all unenumerated powers to the control of the individual states.

West and Dahm state in the resolution that the current actions of the U.S. Congress are unconstitutional in that they would prohibit the accused from facing his accuser, they reject witnesses in the accused’s defense, and that pushing a predetermined political impeachment inquiry violates due process and only serves to foster divisiveness and an atmosphere of distrust that is counterproductive to keeping the United States the greatest nation in the world.

They further state that President Trump was duly elected by the people of this great nation in accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Constitution, and members of Congress should respect their oath of office and the will of the people.

Neese slams Horn for backing Pelosi's impeachment inquiry

TERRY NEESE BLASTS KENDRA HORN FOR BACKING PELOSI’S IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY

Oklahoma City, OK – Terry Neese, conservative Republican candidate for Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District, released the following statement today blasting liberal Congresswoman Kendra Horn for turning her back on her constituents by supporting Nancy Pelosi’s partisan-driven impeachment inquiry.

"It has been over a month since Nancy Pelosi first announced this partisan-driven impeachment inquiry, but today our Congresswoman Kendra Horn finally came out of hiding to stab her constituents in the back once again. By supporting this secretive, partisan-driven witch hunt disguised as an impeachment inquiry, Kendra Horn has made it clear to workers, families, and job creators in the 5th District that she will always put her Party politics before her country. I am appalled that our Congresswoman would stand with Nancy Pelosi over her own constituents who have directly benefited from President Trump’s agenda that has unleashed our economy, cut illegal immigration in half, and kept our nation secure. I hope Kendra Horn enjoys her remaining year in Washington because voters will not be rewarding her actions today come November 2020."

Reps. Hern and Mullin denied access to non-classified impeachment materials

Representatives Hern and Mullin denied access to non-classified impeachment inquiry materials, demand transparency

WASHINGTON, DC – This morning, Representatives Kevin Hern (OK-01) and Markwayne Mullin (OK-02) requested access to the non-classified transcript of Ambassador Volker’s testimony with the Intelligence Committee but were turned away by Committee staff.

Reps. Hern and Mullin react after rejection from Intelligence Committee

Later in the morning, Reps. Hern and Mullin again attempted access to the SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) with over 40 Members of Congress and were able to gain access to the Intelligence Committee hearing, briefly, before Chairman Adam Schiff ended the hearing.

“Many of my constituents didn’t believe me when I told them that Members of Congress were being barred from access to impeachment materials,” said Rep. Hern. “Oklahomans are being completely shut out of this process – not one of the five representatives in our delegation are on any of the committees participating in the impeachment inquiry. Since this inquiry is happening behind closed doors, there are no Oklahomans with access to important documents, testimonies, and hearings. Instead, three of Congress’s most radical, anti-Trump socialists are there: Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. To watch this process move forward like this is baffling. I urge all Americans to keep fighting, call Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Schiff every day and demand transparency in the process. You deserve to know what’s going on deep in the heart of our Capitol.”

“The most frustrating thing is that we’re talking about impeaching the President of the United States and it’s not transparent,” Mullin said. “Chairman Schiff and the Democrats won’t let other Members of Congress into the hearings or open them up to the public. Instead they are leaking one-sided statements that don’t give us the full picture of what’s happening in the hearings. The past two impeachments, Nixon and Clinton, were open and transparent for the American people to see, but this is nothing more than a political witch hunt.”

Oklahoma's congressional delegation comments on Pelosi's impeachment announcement

Following the announcement made today by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) that the House would launch a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump, most of Oklahoma's congressional delegation made some sort of comment, including 5th District Democrat Congresswoman Kendra Horn. Sen. James Lankford and Rep. Frank Lucas (R, OK-03) are the only ones at this point to have not issued a statement.

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R)

Tuesday, September 24, 2019 U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) made the following statement regarding Speaker Pelosi’s impeachment inquiry announcement: “Democrats have been conducting an impeachment investigation for months, and they’ve been investigating President Trump since he took office. Today’s announcement by Speaker Pelosi, while an escalation of Democrat smear tactics, is nothing new. It just proves, yet again, that they are desperate and singularly focused on discrediting and delegitimizing President Trump, no matter what, in spite of his successes with the economy, military and judges.”
Rep. Kevin Hern (R, OK-01)
Rep. Hern reacts to Pelosi’s impeachment announcement

WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Kevin Hern (OK-01) released this statement following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement this afternoon to begin an impeachment inquiring into President Donald Trump.

“The left has proven that they can and will spin anything into an impeachment frenzy. Their MO is to call for impeachment first and sort through the facts later,” said Rep. Hern. “They wasted 2 years and tens of millions of taxpayer dollars investigating the President’s ties to Russia during the campaign, promising it would lead to incrimination and impeachment, but found nothing. President Trump has been a successful and effective President, our booming economy is proof that his policies work. But the Democrats will do anything to halt his progress. They’ve wasted their first 9 months in the majority – they have no legislative accomplishments to speak of!”

Rep. Hern continued, “Instead of showing leadership for the American people, they cannot take their focus away from impeachment and halting President Trump’s success. Today’s announcement is just another ring in their impeachment circus, further proving that their caucus is dysfunctional, chaotic, and blind to the desires of the American people.”

Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R, OK-02)
Markwayne Mullin commented about the matter on Twitter:
Pelosi Democrats have been dead set on resisting President Trump since the day he was elected. They have wasted time and taxpayer dollars on investigation after investigation and now they’re taking it a step further with a baseless impeachment investigation. Will they ever stop this witch hunt? This is nothing more than a distraction from their failed socialist agenda. The American people deserve better than this ridiculous charade.
Rep. Tom Cole (R, OK-04)

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the House will start an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.

“Speaker Pelosi and her fellow Democrats are doing an enormous disservice to the country by recklessly pursuing a partisan impeachment inquiry that puts the priorities of their Caucus ahead of the needs of the American people," said Cole. "Whether right or wrong, it’s clear that House Democrats have already decided what they want to believe. This is an alarming disservice to the American people, who rely on their lawmakers to seek the truth – not politically motivated smear campaigns.

“As an elected body of members entrusted with defending the Constitution, the People’s House should be working to actually improve the lives of the American people. Unfortunately, Democrats are set on condemning the president at every turn and in the process damaging the House as an institution.”

Rep. Kendra Horn (D, OK-05)

Oklahoma's lone Democratic member of Congress, Kendra Horn, also posted on Twitter:
When I was sworn into office, I took a sacred oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. I take that responsibility very seriously.

It is my job as a member of Congress to ensure our democracy stays strong. That means pursuing the truth and protecting ourselves from foreign adversaries. Our national security should never be partisan.

It is time we find a bipartisan path to bring people together and get to the truth in an honest and methodical manner. To do that, we need all of the facts. This should be a detailed and responsible investigation and not one conducted in a media circus. Americans are tired of finger pointing. We should do the job we were sent here to do.

I believe the testimony from the Director of National Intelligence on Thursday is essential to help us learn what happened and when. The rule of law also requires the administration to release the whistleblower report. Our nation has laws to protect whistleblowers and to protect the security of our elections, both of which are fundamental to our democracy.

In the meantime, I will continue to focus on key challenges facing Oklahomans every day like tackling rising health care costs and improving our education system.
