My Grandma

My wife and I with Grandma and Papa, at our wedding in 2012

My grandma, Gene Tinnin, passed away early Wednesday morning after a six year battle with cancer. She and my grandpa Tom had been married for nearly 58 years, and set a beautiful example of Christian marriage for the entire family.

Grandma was a kind, sweet woman who touched the lives of many during her life. As a young girl, she gave her life to Jesus Christ, and led Papa to the Lord shortly after they were married. One of her favorite phrases was a short poem by missionary C.T. Studd: "Only one life 'twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last." Grandma leaves behind a rich spiritual legacy.

Her homegoing celebration service will be on Saturday at 2pm, at New Hope Baptist Church in Muskogee. In lieu of flowers, Grandma (true to her nature) requested that donations be made to the Gideons International for the purchase of Bibles and spreading of the Gospel. You can donate online here; GideonCards can be addressed to Tom Tinnin, 5834 W. 820 Road, Fort Gibson OK 74434.
