State Election Board: new record made in first-day candidate filing


According to the Oklahoma State Election Board, a new record was set in candidate filing today:
    Day 1 of Candidate Filing is now closed. We had 458 candidates file today, the most we've had file on Day 1 since at least 2000, which is as far as our records go back. Previous high was 419 candidates on Day 1 in 2014. Day 2 of Candidate Filing begins at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

    Breakdown of the 458 candidates who filed for office today:

    • 182 Republicans
    • 117 Democrats
    • 5 Libertarians
    • 5 Independents
    • 149 non-partisan (judicial)
Candidates have until 5pm Friday to file for office.
